Ya, for sure. What do you think of what I said about WTWWB above?

As LC said, Bruce's vocals are based more on the story-telling for this track. It's not boring, it's one of Bruce's styles of vocalization.

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

It is indeed a lyrically driven song. I think it's cool because it musically and lyrically builds tension, due to the wait of a nuclear holocaust, and then just when you think some orgasmic blast is coming...it doesn't. The holocaust never came, so the song musically ended just like it started. Brilliant.

Nice interpretation Arthur  :) It is indeed lyrically driven and the vocals are perfect for the song. The lyrics are the highlight of the song, in my eyes.

Ya, I understand what you mean and of course Bruce doesn't need to be singing high pitched every second to make a song enjoyable. I just feel the song starts off really powerful and just kind of leaves you hanging. Oh well, there's more than enough of powerful singing on the rest of the album to keep me satisfied. I guess it's because Bruce's powerful singing voice is the main reason he's my most favorite singer in the history of everything and his voice is the main reason I love Maiden so much. Hell, Bruce could probably sing about anything and I'd love it as long as it has that part of his voice. I guess I'm just WAY TOO MUCH of a Bruce fanboy. Actually, I'm VERY proud to admit that I'm a mega, super, ultra Bruce fanboy! :edmetal:

I necessarily don't think a song needs to be sung higher to be great. I think the vocals just need to fit the song correctly. What I mean is, if Bruce sung the intro in Hallowed or The Legacy higher or more powerful than it was, it just wouldn't sound right. That low talking voice fits the story telling quite nicely.

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

I like it as a closer. It settles you down but makes you listen.

Well, I think you're a little crazy to feel that way. The thing that makes the song brilliant - at least from my point of view - is how different it sounds. Bruce's voice isn't high pitched; he uses more subtle nuance to tell the story. It's really more of a story being told than a song being sung. The music itself, as I have said, is more simplistic, but that's because you're really supposed to listen to the tale and let yourself get pulled into it. Imagine it.

Pretty much feel the same way. This song really draws me in. It has a certain "atmosphere" to it.

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

I understand where you're all coming from. Like I say, to each their own. :)

Now, about The Talisman:
It seems that Bruce has more separate, different vocal parts than any Maiden song ever. I haven't counted them to compare though. What do you think?
Actually, Brighter Than A Thousand Suns could be around the same.

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

This album is like alcohol. Getting greater after per drinking. It's a special album. Not a classic sound Maiden album but it's truly a masterpiece. I think this album can get a place in my Top 4 Maiden albums after some more listenings. My list is :  1st Powerslave 2. Piece of Mind 3. Somewhere in Time 4. Iron Maiden 5. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son and A Matter of Life and Death now. Like I said before, I think it will come better than Iron Maiden after some more listenings in next 3-4 months.

Looks like there's a FLAC version out, and a WavPack too. I don't have the whole thing yet but there's word that the first FLAC release is fake, converted from the mp3 192kbps. I got a 320kbps fake myself. Not sure if I can talk about this here.

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

You can talk about it all you want as long as you don't give links to download.

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

Going back to WTWWB, my view of it is quite strange.

I have come to realise that this song is so brilliantly executed that I literally have difficulty listening to it because it's so depressing (for me). The last part is just  :(. I don't care if they were 'morons' or naive. It's sad, alright. And the whole atmosphere, it's really downplayed. I can't really explain it. It's just so matter-of-fact about the whole thing. Eurgh.

So therefore: This song is so good that I can't listen to it.

Damn it  <_<

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

So good you can't listen to it? Wow. I've never seen that type of reaction to a song.

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

I'm not even joking. I don't want to listen to it because it'll make me feel sad and the atmosphere is too tragic. But it's due to how good the song is that this happens.

I've never felt this way about a song before. What the hell is going on.

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

I have listened to TFF about 15 times and I am on a Maiden high!!

I listened to it last night on headphones in the dark and it blew me away!! :rocker: My GF has promised to get the mission edition for me on Tuesday and I can't wait! ( Yes I am a kept man  ;)

I definitely hear Rush especially on Isle..reminds me of the mid section of Tom Sawyer... UTI!

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

I know the topic has been dropped, but I'd just like to say a few words.

Regarding the Metal Storm stuff a few pages back, I've been a member of that site for 2 years now, and I've been lurking there for about 3-4 years. I don't really post there, but I log in daily and love to regularly rate albums, read reviews & read forum discussions. It's a good place, don't let that TFF thread fool you. There are many open minded metalheads there, certainly more so than the likes of the MetalArchives (where everyone is a tr00 metal head who hates everything that isn't tr00). There are also a lot of Maiden fans there.  Fact is that Iron Maiden are the most popular band on that website. Have a look at the band list, and you'll see that Maiden have more fans on Metal Storm than even Metallica, Megadeth, Opeth & Slayer. You can also see that The Number of the Beast is the #1 ranked album on the site (9.1/10 from 1090 votes), while Powerslave and SSoaSS make the top 10. Many of Maiden's albums rank highly, with Brave New World scoring 8.7/10 (from 784 votes), whilst Fear of the Dark, regarded one of the bands worst albums, still manages 8.2/10 (from 708 votes). Also, TFF is the #2 'Most Wanted' album on the site.

As you can see, there's a lot of Maiden love on the site. So needless to say, I was quite shocked when I saw the comments on TFF. After listening to the album myself I wasn't expecting everyone to like it, but I wasn't expecting this sort of reaction, especially from a place like this. I can only suggest that the people bagging TFF & Maiden aren't real Maiden fans. With a website that unites all forms of metal, you're going to have a lot of opinions. I bet a lot of those guys who were bagging TFF were black metal fans or similar. The ones who love obscure underground metal and dislike anything remotely popular. When they see that one of the pioneers of early metal have changed their style dramatically, they're going to want to badmouth them for it. All I can say is that you shouldn't take their opinion too seriously. You can tell what they're going to say, and you know their claims can't be backed up. You just have to remember that there aren't many of them, and that there will be many more who have the exact opposite opinion, even on the very same website.  :)

I made a post there btw. Just asking those who put down the album to give it a real go before making up their mind.

I believe I see your point and definitely agree. WTWWB delivers such a message that it's kinda like looking at yourself in the mirror. And if you're not in the state of mind for that, then it's not gonna do you good.

Re: Official thread for Final Frontier discussion (Spoilers inside)

Yeah metalstorm is honestly a pretty decent site. I reviewed Metallica's ...And Justice For All there a few years ago under the screen name Powerslave16 (ha).
