Official Football Thread

I've been in Bergen for 2 months this year and I saw how people there loves football. I'm supporting Norway! Martin Oodegaard are going to play this game?

Lykke til, Norge!

Don't think he is starting, but he's in the squad. Whether he gets to play depends on how the game develops, I guess. If we have control in defense but lack creativity up front, he is likely to come on in an attacking midfield role.

The city of Bergen is very passionate about football indeed. Everyone there has an opinion of it.

Gonna root for Norway (because of Wingman), Ireland and Ukraine (don't want neighbors Bosnia and Slovenia rubbing it in our faces :P) and Sweden (because of Zlatan).

Today we are going to have Brazil x Argentina here in South America. I've been looking for this game the whole week.
Too bad brazilian team is not at its best, but Neymar is playing a top notch football lately and Messi is off of the match.

Apart from the first 10 minutes Norway hasn't showed much. On the contrary, they let the Hungarians come.

Let's see what happens in the 2nd half!

Rooting for Norway!

Frustrating game. We had theball a lot, but didn't create many clear chances. I feel Hungary were there for the taking, se didn't capitalize.

Bah. We'll do them in Budapest instead.

So - who are we rooting for tonight?

I say Ireland, because their fans always make a great atmosphere. In a friendly way.

The Bosnian fans can also create an atmosphere, but it's often a hostile one. So - come on Ireland.

Rooting for Ireland. Bosnia's qualification would put Turkey in Pot 3 in the finals. I also think they deserve to be in a major tournament after suffering for years.

I didn't see the last 20 minutes (well, did anyone see anything of the last 45 at all ...?) but I read that it ended 1-1. That's advantage Ireland before the return leg.

Tonight's games: I have no strong opinions about Ukraine or Slovenia, so I just hope for a good game. I guess that one won't stir up much emotion on this forum either. Sweden vs Denmark on the other hand ... with both Swedes and Danes present here, I guess we'll see some discussion. As a good neighbour I'll stay neutral here :)

I want Ukraine to advance. I don't see Slovenia bringing anything of note to the finals, whereas Ukraine have two players that I'd really like to see there. (Yevhen Konoplyanka & Andriy Yarmolenko)

Cheering for Sweden solely because of Zlatan. Like him or don't like him, he's absolutely going to bring some flavor to the championship.
