I saw the second half of England-Serbia! What a match! We'll talk again on wednesday, mate! ;)

I think you got the Spanish league wrong! Madrid are the champions. The match had an unbelievable end, Madrid still won the match! Since their results vs Barcelona were better for Real, they are the champions!

I wondered about that - Barca had scored way more goals and had a far superior goal difference. So it's results between the two that separates them. When I last checked, Barca were 4-0 up and Madrid were drawing.

As for the U21 semis, I'm looking forward to that!

*frowns* Oh well, as long as Real Madrid played good I'm fine with it. Although I would have liked Barca to win La Liga. *pouts*

Don't forget that it starts early! 18.15 (European time) I believe.

I hope that the racist Serbs will be beaten by the Belgians! I am sure you were angry as well, Albie?

Serbia, England in trouble
From correspondents in London
June 19, 2007 UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Serbia and England after a number of incidents in Sunday night's Under-21 championship match in the Netherlands.

Serbia will be probed for racist chants from its fans, and also the conduct of their players both on and off the pitch.

England players' conduct after the match will also be looked at by European football's governing body.

England defender Nedum Onuoha was racially abused by Serbia fans during the first half of the 2-0 win in Nijmegen, and UEFA was forced to make an impromptu anti-racism announcement at Goffert stadium.

The Football Association (FA) has made a formal complaint to UEFA over the alleged racist abuse and has also made a complaint about racist chanting from Serbia fans.

The match also ended in controversy, a brawl breaking out on the pitch after Matt Derbyshire doubled England's lead while Slobodan Rajkovic was down injured.

That bad feeling spilled over into the tunnel with reports of further incidents after the game. England's Tom Huddlestone will also find out the length of his suspension after being sent-off for foul and abusive language almost immediately after coming on as a substitute.

His automatic one-match ban means he will miss Thursday's (AEST) semi-final with Holland, but UEFA could decide to impose a longer suspension.

The problem is that this is nothing new to some of our English players - they have suffered this on many occasions, in the UK as well, but it can get worse abroad. I dare say Dutch teams have had this done to them as well - am I right Forostar?

I hope that UEFA come down heavy on Serbia in a way to make their fans suffer (after all it was they that committed this). Football is the one true global team sport and behaviour like the Serbian fans showed has no place in the game (or anywhere else for that matter).

However, I believe England & Serbia may be in a spot of bother with the officials for the to-do in the tunnel. Probably nothing more than some scuffle, but tempers need to be suppressed on and off the pitch - but these guys are young and the sport has passion, these incidents among the players will always happen.

Good luck England. I can't watch it as I don't have Satellite TV, but I'll be listening to the radio. :D

But I guess, Forostar (the Serbian fans behaviour aside), you would be wanting a Dutch/Belgian final? Local rivalries and all that. :)

Completely agree with Albie, the UEFA really need to come down hard on the Serbian fans for such terrible conduct. Racism had no place in football as it has no place anywhere else.

Sorry for my late reply, couldn't access several topics for some days.
But WHAT a match ENG-HOL was! The longest thriller ever! 32 penalties!!

Holland-Belgium would have been nice, though I don't mind that much. Serbia will be exciting because Holland has even more dark coloured players than England I think!

In the Netherlands this racist behaviour hardly ever happens anymore on the footballfields, it was more of a eighties thing. Nowadays it only happens internationally or in other countries.

And Albie? How's your heart beating after last wednesday's match? :)

I'm rooting for the Dutch.

I watched the first 20 mins (then work got in the way) and I watched the penalties and after a while I must admit, it was rather boring.

Go Oranje!  ;)

That shoot-out was quite dramatic (although I was only listening to it, not watching it). I felt a little disappointed that they conceded so late on in the game (89th minute), these English kids need to learn to shut shop after been in front.

Sunday, 17th June. Real Madrid created history after it won the La Liga title for the 30th time after defeating Real Mallorca 3-1 at home. Next season English star David Beckham will be joining U.S. club Los Angeles Galaxy. Brazil's Roberto Carlos is set to join Turkish side Fenerbahce and Germany's Christoph Metzelder will be joining Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund. Beckham said that his dream of winning the La Liga title with Real came true before he heads to Galaxy. Can Real Madrid win its 31st league title next year? We'll have to wait and see. Congratulations!

Anyway, like GK, I'm rooting for the Dutch. :)

Ans besides posting, can you read this message? Thanks for your attention.

Speaking of old news , congrats to the Dutch win over the Serbs.  They've deserved it.  I've watched the highlights and all the goals were pretty.  :ok:
