NOW WATCHING

Just watched the pilot episode for Game of Thrones. I expected lots of political posturing, swords, beards, and dragons and stuff...I got boobs. Show should literally just be called Game of Boobs.
That's a bold statement to make after seeing just one episode. :P You should keep watching, there's plenty of what you expected.

I'm gonna keep watching. And hey, I'm a champion of boobs, but it was just far more than I expected.

The show is incredibly well done and I'm looking forward to where it goes, just figured it would be a little less trashy. Oh well.

I went to see Warcraft today. It's definitely flawed but as a World of Warcraft fan, I enjoyed how well they adapted the universe. I wouldn't recommend it to those who don't know the games, though... The basic story idea is great but the actual plot was not particularly engaging and many sequences may come across as very cheesy. Anyway, there's a lot of potential for sequels so I hope the studio will greenlight them.

Going to watch Independence Day Blu-Ray tomorrow before seeing part 2 this weekend. Been years since I watched part 1.

UPDATE: Did not know the Blu-Ray contains a Special Edition which is nine minutes longer! The best new scene is one between Jeff Goldblum and Brett Spiner in the captured alien spaceship in Area 51.

Saw Angels & Demons extended cut Blu-Ray last weekend. Forgotten about how well the Catholic Church's point of view was represented in this film (unlike the previous film DaVinci Code). Keep in mind I am a fan of both films. Was my son's first Robert Langdon film. He had some questions, but he liked it. Got DaVinci Code Extended cut Blu-Ray on the way.
(yeah I know I watched them backwards, but not really necessary to watch this series in order).

Just saw Independence Day Resurgence. As in our world, 20 years have passed. Some of the old casts returns to try to save the world with new members (rip off plot point from Star Wars The Force Awakens?). Spent the movie looking at the main character thinking how much he looks like Chris Hemsworth. Just found out he's his younger brother Liam who is also Miley Cyrus's boyfriend!
Like ST TFA, much has happened in between this film and the last one, only some of which is explained.

Charlotte Gainsbourg plays a former love interest of Jeff Goldblum. (This is the first film in a while I have seen her in which is not scandalous). No mention (that I noticed) of Goldblum's ex-wife from the first film (she was played wonderfully by Margaret Colin). Vivica Fox does return but I did not recognize her. GOD she has gained weight (haven't we all though in the past 20 years?) Robert Loggia makes an appearance (prior to his death in real life). He looks like he had a stroke, but I found out he had Alzheimer's. There is a nod to Randy Quaid's character early on (look at the first name shown in the list of the dead etched into the monument in DC).

The film reveals a Queen alien (rip off plot point from Aliens?) If the film does well in the box office, the ending (which I will not reveal) does leave the possibility of a sequel wide open. We did enjoy the film, and the scale of the threat was larger this time. Don't know yet if it will be worth multiple viewings like the first one was.

Person of Interest Season 5 (last season). Just finished episode 4

I am up to ep 12 ... one more to go, which I will probably watch tonight. I really enjoyed this series and without giving anything away, this last season has been great so far.

30 for 30: The '85 Bears.
I haven't seen a 30 for 30 documentary that wasn't fantastic, and this one is no exception.

RIP Buddy Ryan. (He just passed away today :()

Just finished the series (Person of Interest) last night.
During the series finale, Fusco and Reece almost have their badges taken away when Reese is finally outed as The Man In the Suit, yet by the end of the episode, Fusco is back to doing paperwork again. No mention of how he cleared his name!

I then went back and watched the Pilot again. I had forgotten how all the characters first met and interacted. It was enjoyable to watch knowing now which characters will live or die. Harold even says at the end of the Pilot to Reese that one, if not both of them, would probably end up dead. If he only knew...
Also at the end of the Pilot, when Reese and Harold are speaking vaguely about their past, it was nice to watch that scene having already watched the series. I knew exactly which moments in their lives they were talking about because I have seen those memories played out on screen.

I finished it up as well, I want to watch this through again at some point. I thought they did a really nice job wrapping it up. As for Fusco, my guess is
that the police captain was an operative and Samaratin outed the man in the suite. When the virus took out Samaratin and the machine that we all know and love took back over, it removed the Samaratin operatives and whatever got Fusco his job back

I'm definitely going to see Star Trek Beyond and Ghostbusters in July. Suicide Squad is on my hit list, but then I'm away until Dr. Strange is out.

I'm definitely going to see Ghostbusters in July. The original. At home. :P

On a serious note, I'll see ID4:R on Tuesday, Suicide Squad because friend is making me to, then probably nothing until Doctor Strange. Afterwards Fantastic Beasts and Rogue One, and maybe Assassin's Creed. Maybe I'll go see Star Trek Beyond but it'll depend on how much money I'll have. Sausage Party also looks interesting, but will need to find someone to go with me.

Just finished the first few episodes of the new seasons of The Last Ship and Zoo. Both shows took turns in direction I was not expecting. Still deciding if I like the new directions...

About to go see Conjuring 2

Update after having seen Conjuring 2. Not an easy movie to walk away from. It stayed with me for a while. Very disturbing (except for the Crooked Man; he was cheesy). Loved the first one also.

Seconds From Disaster: Space Shuttle Columbia.

Debris was spread all over Nacagdoches TX. I live in Texas. Very sad.
I remember the Challenger disaster well back in 1986. Don't know why I had so little knowledge about this final Columbia mission until a visit to the Space Center Houston.
