The first part of the song is a bit too long, but this is one of the most effective choruses in a metal ballad imo. Tobi! Classic from their 2nd album.

I rate the very first Avantasia album extremely high. As a parallel, think of something along the lines of Bruce’s The Chemical Wedding, only set in the power-metal universe. For me, even the second album was somewhat disappointing, and when Tobias changed his writing and sound on the later releases, the Avantasia project completely lost its magic. But that first album is great.
Huh, it just struck me that Tobias Sammet and Tobias Forge share the same first name.

First single from a new album, the title track. The album will contain a song with Udo.
The vocals (Dio-esque) are a bit forceful, but overall it's an effective song with its riff, verses, working chorus, longer solo and melody. Solid work, good production.
He releases albums quite often and almost all of the covers are with dark colors. The packaging and the album cover are cool (it's AI...), the idea and to create an interesting world for the album.
As for Axel Rudi Pell… I like his Masquerade Ball album, and yes, his earlier records were more varied. But beyond that, this man—this band—is the true epitome of playing the same song and style over and over again, done to death and beyond. Even his album covers have the same vibe. Next to him, Maiden are true musical chameleons, constantly changing colors.
Accident Of Birth is for me one of THE examples of a pure metal, short and sharp song. I just love it- riff, verses, chorus, melodic approach. Great opener too.
The additional solo added by Mistheria for it live sounds so fitting and perfect (I even wish there were 2 solos in the original version with Adrian), we need an official live version.

Avantasia are fun power metal with some symphonic parts, which is tough to vary. The songs will work in Edguy too. They still have their charm, but early 2000s power metal albums are special.
Quite the praise for the debut, nice. I think I prefer Part 2 of the Metal Opera a bit more, overall. The debut has 4 intros (I know it's fitting, but more than 2 is odd imo) and some great songs, parts, choruses (Avantasia, Sign Of The Cross, Reach Out For The Light), while the Part 2 is not that epic in sound, maybe more standard power metal, but it delivers with Seven Angels, No Return, Final Sacrifice, Neverland, Anywhere, Memory.
Short review:
Part 1:
Reach Out For The Light - worthy of a Helloween song
Serpents In Paradise - cool melody, chorus and especially bridge riff
Breaking Away - solid song with Kiske, effective chorus, typical Edguy material
Farewell - effective ballad
Glory Of Rome - solid Sabaton sound before them, cool instrumental
Avantasia - classic, one of their best songs
Inside - another ballad
Sign Of The Cross - top song
The Tower - interesting song
Part 2:
The Seven Angels - too much slow parts, but it's a true great epic
No Return - solid Helloween
Looking Glass - classic riff, nice chorus
In Quest For - not a fan of
Final Sacrifice - pure banger
Neverland - great melody, very nice chorus
Chalice Of Agony - Stratovarius sound, great instrumental
Memory - one of their best songs, awesome riff and top chorus
Into The Unknown - nice ballad
