NOW PLAYING

I don't know, I feel like the metal scene is just so professional and antiseptic nowadays.

I actually remember the "open letters", wondering how the band will continue after the acrimonious split and then the second single being "Bye Bye Beautiful", with Marco taking over in the chorus to more or less yell FUCK YOU, TARJA!!!!!!

Priceless. :D

POE is a really fun album (like Turbo, but not better), although they tried too hard to repeat the success of the previous album. There are some weak songs, but songs like Highway (classic), Hot Rockin', Turning Circles, Desert Plains (another classic) and maybe Solar Angels and even Troubleshooter are good and cool. For me, the album is a bit more consistent than another so called lesser Priest album, RID (although the latter has better songs). Or the debut album.

On Through the Night
Release Date: 1980
Style: Hard Rock

Not a strong debut album imo. But filled with great riffs! Rock Brigade, Wasted, Overture and Sorrow Is A Woman are the best songs on it. I can also add Rocks Off and Answer To The Master because of their music.

“Heading Out To The Highway”, “Desert Plains”, and “Solar Angels” definitely justify the existence of this album, though “Highway” works better live where it’s a little faster and drops the vocal harmonies.

Not a strong debut album imo.
Yeah, I almost never listen to it. “Rock Brigade” is the only decent song on it, and the rest are a collection of good and bad spare parts. Odd that the song “On Through The Night” isn’t actually on this album, but showed up on the next album High ‘N’ Dry instead.

That brings up an interesting idea — which band had the biggest improvement going from one album to the next? Leppard’s OTTN -> HND is a serious contender, as would be Maiden’s VXI -> BNW.

Yep. ''On Through The Night'' is a good song.

This Leppard comparison is one of the best examples. I disagree about Maiden.

Maybe other examples are:

Priest's POE->SFV
Bruce's Skunkworks->AOB (maybe)
Helloween's Chameleon->Master Of The Rings (although the vocalist is different)
Krokus' first 3 albums->Metal Rendez-vous
Grave Digger's last 2 albums as a comparison to their albums since 2003
Black Sabbath's HAH as a comparison to the previous 2 albums
Accept's I'm A Rebel->Breaker
KISS' The Elder->COTN
Blaze Bayley's 2012 album->2016 album

I really enjoyed with both albums a lot. On through the Night is very well produce to be a debut album for a debut band. Amazing sound and the hard rock reminds me a lot to UFO. The weak point here is the Joe Elliot Vocals but guitar playing even the bass and drums are very good. High N Dry is much better and I think with this album ends the good Hard Rock age for the band along with Pete Willis career. Sad.

About Point of Entry is a very good album, I can enjoy with every single note. Hot Rockin is catchy and the sguitar solo is great. You said Yes I said No is an stupid song, it's for that reason that the album is not a 5/5
