Iron Maiden - The Longest Day
I had forgotten how awesome this song is (big mistake, I admit). The intro is one of their most impactful. The pre-chorus after it is amazing and I like it more than the actual chorus, which is good and anthemic. The verses are some of Maiden's best imo. Bruce's vocalse are pure power! The instrumental section is quite good too - it starts with thunderous drums (a little later the drums are even more epic) and heavy riffs, while the triple-lead guitar harmony is unmistakable Maiden. Both solos fit nice with the flow of the song and this is something Maiden are masters at. The outro is really needed for the song. Not a single second is wasted in this song!
One can really ''feel'' the atmosphere of ''The Longest Day'' and ''Paschendale'' (for example) through the music & lyrics - simply amazing!
