Nicko McBrain

No, I don't understand it. I am a little surprised and disappointed by Nicko.
He sounds more like those band members who were unexpectedly and unfairly kicked out of their band. I was convinced that he would celebrate Maiden continuing so successfully.
Yes, I noticed that Simon could be less basic in his playing, but I found it understandable. I think he wanted to play it safe with the pressure of his first big tour.

There is a question that is a very human one: do we expect Nicko to process the emotions around what has transpired on mute? Anger, sadness, frustration, resignation, and the proverbial 'watching your wife with another man' syndrome. He is only human, and a talkative man to say the least, so where do those emotions go?

I agree, some of these are direct comments, others are backhanded comments. He is only human, after all.

"He is a baby. He's got a little tiny drum set".
I understand the frustration and the sadness, but this...
And the Bruce comment is really too much. What could have the other members say about his playing during the two last tours?
That comment about Simon is a harmless joke.

He also said this

But he's doing a wonderful job and I'm glad that you lot have welcomed him to the family.

You can probably make several controversial headlines from this, but reading the full article gives context and it's just typical Nick. No harm meant.

Sadness and frustration about his health would be understandable emotions. But making remarks about band member's mistakes make it sound like sadness and frustration about the bands success and that are not understandable human emotions for me.
They didn't cheat on him like this wife.

Are you sure people's heads and hearts demarcate their experiences into the neat lines you have drawn?

Nicko has always been an emotional man for sure, not the calculating and excessively rational type.

This just sounds like Nicko joking around. Maybe feeling a little less restrained about what he wants to say. He is free, after all, he's not going on tour again, and his money is now passive rather than actively earned from the band (unless he plays on a new album). I wouldn't even sweat it.

Yeah it looks bad in text. He said very similar things on Eddie Trunk’s show but you could tell it was mostly joking because of the tone.

That being said … “many a truth is said in jest”.

Nicko likes a joke and things can for sure look out of context in written words. Let`s hope it`s along those lines or for me it`s in poor taste , they stood by him in his most difficult time on TFP tour.
Surely he`d be happy to see his former band mates knocking it out of the park on this tour, he did retire on his terms didn`t he, not get sacked off.
