New string tribute coming Sept. 14

I'd probably be up for hearing those records at least once for the novelty of it, but what would probably be mindblowing is the band playing this HUGE concert backed-up by a full orchestra similar to what Dream Theater did for their 20th anniversary gig.

Maybe they could do it for their 40th anniversary in 2015? :)

I'm torn on that... At this point I feel it's cliche and overdone and unless they do it right, might as well not do it at all. I love string tributes and classical covers of metal pieces. Most translate quite well, but when they fall short it's painful to sit through.
 
The only tribute string cd i have is pretty cool, so I'm looking forward to listen to these new ones.

However none will beat the piano tribute, it's the best IM tribute album I've heard, even better than Numbers from the beast.

I've done some extensive searching for this hip hop tribute on the net, just hoping to hear a few clips to settle my curiosity, but the Amazon link is all I could ever find. I really don't feel like spending money on something that by all indications is crap anyway. The thing is, I'd be curious to hear hip hop versions of Maiden songs, but these appear to be really poorly done.

Some of it was available via Zune Pass when I was using that.  It was pretty bad.  They basically just took the chord progressions and did em with synths, had a drum track going the whole time with a guy who sounded like he was stoned talking along with it.

Man, at first I was like, "they're exaggerating, it's not THAT bad." Then I listened to more samples... realized ALL the tracks sound the same and apparently by the same artist and... yeah.... it sucks. It's a good idea and would like to see executed properly some day with competent hip hoppers.
