The band members are allowed to change their minds about the length of their career.  Let's not hold them up to some rationalist absolute.

Just stated how I would feel about it if it is the last one. It's a personal feeling. There's more sadness than anger beneath the surface. I guess I'll have more peace with it when I hear the music.

I never saw AMOLAD as a last album. There was never such indication (in my experience).
So I don't see this new album as a bonus.

That makes two of us. In the U.S. there was a cult TV phenomenon called "Arrested Development" on which a main character is an illusionist who comes onstage to said song. Hilarity ensues.

I understand the sadness.  As far as "bonus" was concerned, I believe I'm quoting You Know Who when he said that "Iron Maiden does not owe its fans more albums".  That's how I see it.  Anything (good) that comes in the future, whether album or tour, is surely respected.

"We're still working on the set list for these summer shows, but this time it will cover the whole history of the band, and I can hint that we will be playing a taster from the new album," frontman Bruce Dickinson said in a recent press release. "We already have the designs for the new 'Final Frontier' stage show which we are building to bring out with us, so this summer tour will be a bit of a preview for the fans."

Another hint at their end with the whole history set list but I think they may just want to celebrate their long career and link in the "The Final Frontier" theme which may just be a theme. So to look on the bright side a "whole career set list" would be cool although it's highly likely it will be regular 80's classics with what they said about playing more recent material coming to place with at least one from each reunion album, one or two blaze and FOTD. Which would still be amazing.

Well, one song per album plus two or three extra "standards" would make for a set of typical length, wouldn't it? If they from the first five albums play Iron Maiden, Wrathchild, Hallowed, The Trooper and 2 Minutes, and add NOTB to that, they've already done the classics, and there's plenty of room for representing all the albums. That would be great.

We're dreaming again, I think.  I'll wait until the band announces its list before contemplating it.  Last time was a disappointment.  But if the sound is right this time, I'll be happy.

Aside from a teaser from Final Frontier, this looks like this is another tour along the lines of "Ed Huntour" or "Give Em Ed" which is good, because that's when they break out some of the lesser plaid classics.  And unlike the Early Days or Somewhere Back on Tour gigs, this won't be focused on a specific era.  Thus, we could get some interesting stuff.  Sure, IM, NOTB, HBTN, 2M2M and others are pretty much guaranteed, but we could also get rarer tunes like 22 Acacia Avenue.  Personally, I'd like to see them break out Afraid to Shoot Strangers, or Stranger in a Strange Land--or even something from the Blaze era that is NOT Clansman--perhaps Edge of Darkness, which I always thought Bruce could do a killer job on.

Anyway, it looks as if this will definitely be something to look forward to.

Up the Irons!!

This time, I don't want to know the set list in advance. I want every single song to come as a surprise. (Of course, if they're going to play Rime again it could be good to know in advance, so I oculd bring an extra pair of trousers  :innocent:)

^No one said that! Yet.
No, but I have that interview Steve did with the Swedish press about 15 albums in mind (someone mentioned it in this thread too). I am in a really sad mood right now.  :P

Cheer up mate! Even if that's the case, life will go on without Maiden.
Not for me maybe, but for other people sure B)

And Priest will retire soon as well. Great! My two favorite bands will retire about the same time. :D
