Misheard lyrics

"In a time when dinosaurs walked the earth, when the land was swarmed pie case butthole!"

You know, I could have sworn that in Holy Smoke, Bruce sings:

I've lived in filth, I've lived in sin
But I still smell cleaner than the shit you're in

Holy smoke, holy smoke
Plenty bad preachers for the Devil to stoke
Feed' em in feet first this is no joke
This is thirsty work making holy smoke

They ain't religious but they ain't no fools
When Noah built his Cadillac it was cool
Two by two they're still going down
And the satellite circus just left town
I think they're strange and when they're dead
They can have a Lincoln for their bed
Friend of the President – trick of the tail
Now they ain't got a prayer – 100 years in jail

Holy smoke, holy smoke
Plenty bad preachers for the Devil to stoke
Feed' em in feet first this is no joke
This is thirsty work making holy smoke

But the booklet says that he sings

I've lived in filth, ow
And gazed at the rain
With an ache in my heart
But never feeling the pain
And if you would tell me
Just what my life means
Walking a long road
Never reaching the end.

God give me the answer to my life
God give me the answer to my dreams
God give me the answer to my prayers
God give me the answer to my being

Talk about a misheard lyric!

heh. It kind of does sound like that.

in the Dance of death, I thought he said "  Took me to an unholly place, and that's where I fell for Grace " xD but that was years ago :p it doesnt make sense at all -.- xD

i cant believe nobodies mentioned the reason i cant take death on the roads can i play with madness seriously...
does anyone else hear 'CAN I PLAY WITH AGNES?' and the same every chorus throughout?         (my friends grandmothers called agnes  :S)

I hear it all over Death on the Road.  To the point that I'm convinced that's actually what Bruce is singing.

I'll give it another look sometimes. I completely ignore that song anyway that might be why.

THIS, i actually love the song just for this 'misheard' lyric. if i ever need a giggle. ive never heard madness listening to it and its not like i dont know what its meant to be  :smartarse:, i cant see why they would all shout agnes... buuut i cant think of any other explanation

Wow. I really need to watch again.

Edit: It does kind of sound like that.

When my kids were little they used to regularly hang out with my mother-in-law and a friend of hers named Freda.
They used to think the Clansman chorus was singing about her.

and how about this carnival-esque take on Avalon:
"Through the corn dogs, you will pay for them all."

For years and years i thought on The Clairvoyant it said "As soon as you fall you die again" instead of "As soon as your born you're dying" haha
