Maiden Tour 2014 (NO SPOILER TAGS, ENTER AT OWN RISK)

To me it seemed as though Bruce was struggling with The Clairvoyant, at least in 2013. Maybe he was having problems with Wrathchild as well?

Although I'm sad they didn't replace it with something cool like Alexander the Great ( :D ), it's pretty hilarious that the standard "we dropped a rare/cool/relevant song for this" song has now also been dropped, and replaced by... NOTHING! Muahahaaa...

If there does happen to be a replacement for it, then it better be Infinite or Hallowed.

They would've replaced it by now. Maybe they'll just bring back Wrathchild or Clairvoyant for the last show and that's it.

That's probably the reason why we'll probably never see Infinite Dreams on the setlist.
Sadly, yes, and it's also probably the reason why Hallowed never made it in either. I mean, honestly, in watching RiR and RaR from this most recent tour, Bruce's voice has really started to change. His range is getting lower, and he seems to have trouble maintaining accurate pitch on longer notes (high and low) without having to clear his throat. If anything, he's sounded better on Di'Anno era tunes, which makes it even stranger that Wrathchild is now gone.

It's a shame his voice has been suffering in the past year, he sounded great on the first leg of the tour in 2012, and The Final Frontier tour (from videos I've watched).

What a difference a year or two makes.

He sounds awesome. I'm sure Hallowed will be back for the next tour. I bet it was either Hallowed or The Prisoner. 4 songs from TNOTB on a Maiden England tour would've been too much. I can already predict the next year's list. 5 new songs, Hallowed-TNOTB-Hills, 2 Minutes, Trooper, one from each of first 3 reunion albums (no TFF), FOTD, maybe Afraid, Iron Maiden, Evil.

I agree. He was top-notch when I saw them in 2010, and slightly less so in 2012 (though it was pushing 100 degrees F). I think he need some time off to rest his vocal chords and reevaluate some of his technique! The massive three-year tour stuff seems a bit much... I always laugh when I rewatch Death on the Road and he talks about doing shorter, 3-4 month tours because they're all getting older... and then SBIT happened... ::)

He sounds great on Revelations and The Trooper this year, but everything else has been pretty gravelly! Wasted Years and TETMD in particular IMO.

Maybe they're just getting bored! Hell, if I was playing basically the same tunes every couple nights for 3 years I'd want to switch things up now and then :P

Switch them up, yes! Drop a song and don't replace it is switching down, that's less good!

No spoilers, but I think this is one of the best Bruce interviews I have read

http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/jun/19/iron-maiden-bruce-dickinson-frank-turner-interview

That's brilliant. The older he gets, the more quotable he is. My favourite is "it's like flying a giant set of bookshelves"! If he wasn't so anti-establishment, he'd have a great career on late-night talkshows.

He's right about Maiden fans sticking with their band, but there are Elvis Costello fans out there who'll buy his new album and go and see him, even if they disliked everything from 1987-2012. It's not just metal!

And can anyone enlighten me, does the Judas Priest autocue story come from the Ripper years? Please don't tell me that Rob Halford uses one...

Rob uses one. He has problem remembering the lyrics (obviously not for Breaking the Law, but it's on the autocue nevertheless). So what? Would you rather have him fuck up the lyrics to The Sentinel?
