Maiden new album in 2014

I'm not saying that I am convinced that there will not be another one, but one has to ask oneself what keeps them from writing a new album when the Maiden England tour is over. Somehow, I don't think they will add another leg to that tour. I'm not going to deny them the right to unwind after such a big tour, but they could put their feet up for half a year after the last gig and still have an album out some time next year.

Ah, you're ruining an already not too brilliant afternoon. Perun, could you see them doing just a farewell tour, without releasing anything ? This would be so mediocre. They definetely need a classy exit.

I'm not going to speculate on their future plans, there are other people on this board you can ask that from. The only thing I actually expect from them at the moment is that there will be another "history" DVD covering everything from No Prayer to Brave New World or perhaps Dance of Death, and a tour accompanying it. Other than that... I have no idea.

If Maiden not recording an album in 2014 means there will be a new Bruce album in 2014 (followed by a Maiden one in 2015), I'm quite content with that.

I don't know. As much as I love Bruce's solo work - and I really do! - it's always been more of a sideshow to me. I especially had that feeling with Tyranny of Souls. It was something that kept me entertained until Maiden came back with the real thing. If the real thing gets a delay for the sideshow, I'd feel cheated.

I'm pretty sure that there will also be another British Lion album next year. Another Primal Rock Rebellion album would be awesome, though it's unlikely to happen.

I'd rather have them take their time instead rush to release some subpar material.

I liked Tyranny, but thought it was a step down from what he was doing as a true solo artist. Same with the Primal Rock Rebellion album and Adrian. If Maiden is truly not planning on putting out an album until 2015 and essentially taking 2014 off (though I would not be shocked if they added another leg to the current tour for Asutralia/Asia) ... I say bring on the solo material .. but if it is an either/or question .. I would rather have a Maiden album

But, it they take 2014 off and Bruce releases and album and tours ... that would be cool. There are some great songs that have not been played live for too long

I've said it, I'll say it again. If Maiden not releasing anything from now on means solo albums/projects from band members, I'm fine with it.

I want both a new Maiden album and solo albums hopefully that'll be the case.

Well, the tour ends soon...October 2nd...Once that's all done and good they'll fly home and everyone gets some time off, I'm thinking half a year on the road, half a year off, that's what they usually do right? So that could mean they'd start writing sometime this time next year or earlier...

Once they go into the studio with the songs, we know that it's only a matter of weeks before the album is out as we saw with The Final Frontier.

I am still not sure the tour is over Oct 2. Announced dates are over, yes .. but they have been doing really well on this tour and there is a good chunk of the world that they have gone to in recent tours that they have not gone to yet on this tour. It may be over, but I would not be surprised if they announced Australian, Japan, India, and points in between.

I don't doubt the release of a new album. When that will be, who knows, but it will happen. And even if they never release another studio album, this is Iron Maiden we're talking about: their normal tours are epic feats of modern miracles, their farewell tour would no doubt last two years, hit every single continent multiple times (including Antarctica), and end with a performance on a space station orbiting the Earth.

I'd really welcome a BL album (and tour !). They've got some (new ?) material to record, as they played 4 previoulsly unheard songs during the tour, but I don't see it happen so soon. As for Smith, I also doubt, as he didn't even take his material on tour.

Unless they drop another history tour in somewhere beforehand, it really could be years before we see them tour again, too. Grim.
A Hx tour followed by a Hx tour? --that ain't going to happen. It sounds grim indeed, but I don't know if the difference between what's now being predicted & the past is really that radical, now that I think about it. The SBiT Hx tour finished at the beginning of April 2009; TFF album was released in mid-August 2010; & although Maiden were on tour when it was released, the main tour supporting TFF album didn't really kick off until February 2011, continuing well into the year. So quite a lot of people might have seen Maiden in early 2009 on a Hx tour & had to wait until early 2011 to see them on the next album tour. Equate that to now: that's like people seeing Maiden this fall on Maiden England & then having to wait until late 2015 to see them on the next album tour. Brucie's comments don't contradict that timeframe. And that's not taking into account this tour being extended into late-late 2013, or even 2014 anyway. It feels long (to me too), but is it really?

Yeh, but ToS came out after DoD, did it not? :p

... yet still only manage to play the UK a couple of times. Sorry, London. And maybe a festival...

Maybe not when you see that sideshow live.

Bruce last tour was back in 2002 , the Airraid over Europe tour was a whooping 6 dates long..
I think the tour was paired with his Best Of release.

I can't see Bruce dedicating himself and putting everything else on hold to go out and sweat on the road again for his solo stuff anymore..He did that when he was still solidifying his solo band/career..but Chemical Wedding and Accident of Birth tours is a long time ago and he is a lot older now with more things to do on the side ...But maybe I'm wrong of course :) Or maybe he'll do a few shows here and there if we're lucky.

That's what I thought (--or at least that he didn't tour off ToS). We may get a Brucie solo album, but no tour then. Adrian wouldn't tour even if he did release another side-project/solo effort, I don't think. The only likely album and tour (which would have seemed pretty unlikely, if we were discussing this a few years back) is from Steve. I'd certainly go & see him again; that was lots of fun.

Yeah...I think for Adrian and Bruce...well all of the Maiden members, doing the side projects and collaborations is good and fun and interesting because it gives them a new platform to create music on but there's really no need to tour it all that much...I mean, they don't need a big tour push by their record labels to sell this stuff and that's not the point behind it.

That Steve did so with British Lion is cool of course, but I feel he kinda did it more for the other guys in the band than he did it for his own sake.

I get the impression Steve started doing BL for the other guys, but then really got into it. Not ruling out the possibility that it was showmanship, Steve appeared to be really enjoying himself playing with them live. He apparently came out just before their set in Manchester and took a photo of the audience with his phone. I missed that bit, I was at the merch stand at the time.

Interestingly, in one interview I read/watched (can't remember which), Steve said it was good to have British Lion as well as Maiden, in case any of the guys in Maiden decided they didn't want to do as much in future. Is this what the potential 2014 'year off' is all about? Rather than Bruce or Steve's own projects pushing back a new Maiden album, there has been a collective decision to have a rest, and Bruce - if not Steve as well - just decide to make use of the time for their own projects?
