The Book of Souls wins 6 - 5, but I'm surprised how many I picked from Dance of Death. That album is a lot stronger than I remember.

No real problems here, no re-listens required.

While I love the latter stages of TRATB, it just pissed me off and I can't be arsed listening to it very often. I even think it starts well but the verses go on too long and begin to grate on me. I love the heavy groove of Montsegur and the annoying bit is much shorter than the annoying bits of TRATB.

Big fan of Shadows of The Valley. Dance of Death is the only other song it would have lost out to here.

I was hoping for a total whitewash for Age of Innocence but Diesel screwed the pooch.

7 - 4 for TBOS. Oddly enough, the only matchup that gave me pause was Rainmaker vs Speed of Light. Love both songs and find that they’re proof that modern Maiden can still rock hard too. In the end it came down to Adrian’s sweet pentatonic licks vs Dave’s sweet bluesy licks. Had to go with Dave on this one.

The matchups for this round work out really well. No tough decisions. The great DOD songs go up against weak TBOS songs and vice versa. It’s also all album tracks and no b sides. Neither album is really at a disadvantage here, TBOS is just a much stronger album.
