Knowing your taste for progressive metal I wanted to recommend some of the other big progressive acts like say, Fates Warning or Queensrÿche. I think I will suggest Savatage instead though - save a few commercial attempts in the 80s they have a very strong catalog of albums!

I was a pretty big Fates Warning fan back in the day, have heard all their albums and definitely enjoy most of the Ray Alder-era stuff. Queensrÿche might be a much bigger hurtle simply because I am really not a fan of Geoff Tate's voice at all.

Savatage, though...I should definitely look into!

Yeah, Savatage are awesome. I got their "Best Of" compilation album 'Still The Orchestra Plays' a few years ago - great collection of songs.

Sounds good to me! I've got a lot of energy going into the Tom Waits survivor (COME PLAY, PEOPLE!) at the moment, but if this were more of just a back and forth discussion that'd be swell.
