No problem, that's life working in an IT Nazi regime!
And I thought ours was strict. We are blocked from stuff like Youtube and all the main social networking sites (and stuff like that), but we would still be able to see that animated gif wasted posted.

But I'm at home on my lunch break and work is a bit too busy at the moment for me to try it out.

I used to work in the IT branch of a huge company, and to my huge surprise, they never blocked anything. I remember one day when I was bored silly, I started watching Maiden videos on Youtube with my earphones on (plus, everybody else in the room was at a conference for several hours). I never tried it with porn sites, though.

OH, well, that is cool....  do  you fly commercially?  Or does the military provide you with transportation, so you don't get hung up in the airport?

The funny thing is that, as I said, Youtube is blocked but the BBC iplayer is not. And the reason for blocking Youtube is to stop people hogging the bandwidth and getting distracted from work.

For some people at my work though, all internet access is completely blocked.

You're right. Some of us got issued Blackberry's a while back and one guy was boasting about all the sites of a discerning taste that he had visited, totally unaware of the fact that all Blackberry internet traffic went through our servers - but not the spam filter, so nothing was blocked.

That has since been rectified. :D

My dad emails me on his Blackberry all the time.  It's usually something like "doesa teh emmail work?"  or "did this gooo to ur MSEWN?"  It's pretty comic.

If I get another email asking me to buy Collectible Obama Victory Plates, I'm going to totally loose control and do something friggin' stupid.

Deano, I'm moderately surprised that your IT dept. blocks a harmless Calvin image, but lets you get through to this forum. I can understand blocking time-wasting bandwidth hogs like youtube, but one image? The (il)logic of IT will never cease to amaze (or at least confuse).

In fact, I'd suggest being careful about posting here too much. Someone in IT might decide it's a waste of time and block you out. We don't want that to happen. Perhaps you ought to cut down on posting, for example by stopping posting in the album elimination thread. :P

Oh.  That was very subtle!  And all for the greater good of Dean's posting abiltiy.

Well played, SMX, well played.

At my school IE has pretty much anything fun blocked so I decided to see If I were to downloaded Firefox on to the few computer's I use if it would work and it did. so now when I'm in auto/or comp tech and get board you tube is my best friend.
