Diesel 11
As you scream into the web of silence...
It’s so easy to say this when you completely overlook the actual points people have made.I think you and Diesel already have the market cornered on meaningless words.
Again, communication works in the following fashion:
1. Message is formulated.
2. It is deliver through a channel.
3. It is picked up by the receiver.
4. The receiver decodes the message, based on the actual words and the context in which is what produced.
5. The receiver gives feedback on the message
6. A back-and-forth may arise which usually unravels the overall meaning again.
This is how communication works. This is as objective as we can get. Here’s what happened:
1. You read Saap’s post and formulated a message in response to it.
2. You posted your half-joking comment.
3. Ariana read it.
4. Ariana did not see men mentioned at all, and as a woman, found a male talking about judging a woman’s sex life to be sexist.
5. Ariana posted her response.
What should have happened:
6. You stress that that was not your intention and that it applies with men too.
7. It all ends there.
Here’s what did happen:
6. You immediately jump to the conclusion that Ariana hates you and is looking for ways to trip you up. She found an innocent post of yours, in your mind, and attacked your character. You respond that the only reason she found sexism is because she went looking for it. Never mind that you have just made numerous assumptions about her character that were never stated by her. Do you seriously not see the double standard here?
7. Other people posted and said that your post appeared sexist due to the way it was written, and you overlooked all arguments to rant about how people have put you into a “mean” category simply cuz you’re you. And said you proved everyone objectively wrong.
I’ve read your post numerous times and I still don’t see what proof you’ve made because you completely ignore the nuances of communication. All I’ve outlined above has been discussed for years. Whether it’s five stages or eight, it’s the same concept. Communication is more than just the basic intent of your message and there’s more nuance than you’re willing to admit. But it’s literally Communication 101. And I’m sorry, but you’re objectively blind if you don’t see that.
