Brilliant, I left my key inside on Midsummer's Day! :( The door opening service is sure to cost a fortune, and the maintenance guy is here in two hours if I'm lucky! Fortunately I had my phone with me, so I could call the service, I don't always take the phone with me.

As long as they didn't say "we won't be able to make it before sundown"...

Funny, last night I went to check the breakers in our house and ended up locking both me and my girlfriend (who was staying over) in the garage. There was one solitary door that allowed us exit, and I had to go around and wake up my parents to let us back in. What a wild event.

I'm glad you were able to get out, it wouldn't have been nice to spend all night in the garage! Today I would have had the chance to walk back to my relative's house, and get a spare key, but I had just been there to feed their cat, and that would have meant walking 6 extra kilometers on top of the 6 I had just walked. So I thought what do I go to work for? To be able to pay super high fees like this! :D

We live in buildings, so you suddenly get a knock on the door, and it's heya neighbour mind if I climb over your balcony I forgot my keys inside.

Unfortunately it isn't possible in my building. Or, to be exact, it's possible, but very very dangerous.

Also ripe for disaster at my place. The guard fence extrudes outwards so when you flip over you're hanging solely on it, and the fall from the first floor is about 10 meters. It is quite convenient tho :D especially if you locked in your IDs too, locksmith is not going to open the door unless documents check out.

A friend who was in your situation, said the locksmith guy opened standard door lock in 3 seconds.

Here I've noticed balconies are often divided by a concrete wall. We also have balcony glazings in my building, so that adds a bit of extra challenge. I didn't need to call a locksmith, just a maintenance guy. They can check ID once they have opened the door, so the inhabitant can fetch the ID from the apartment.
