TTTE is an important part of many people's childhoods, and it is a garbage and dangerous show.

The Canadian equivalent is this show called Caillou. Caillou is a 3 year old cancer patient (presumably) who whines until he gets what he wants. Do not let your child view this show.

What’s wrong with Thomas? I watched the show a little bit as a kid but don’t remember much about it. I was more into the toys.

I agree on Cailou though. That kid is a piece of shit.

If that article is what I think it is then you’ve bought into the wrong stock. There have been a good number of people trying to break into the “terrible authoritarian truth” about Thomas, but that’s bullshit.

No, the series has simply been heavily edited since. The original stories, especially, are very authoritarian.

Stick to Theodore Tugboat.

What people see as “authoritarian” is mainly just the Fat Controller acting as a father figure to the engines. Spare the rod, spoil the child, etc. These were stories with morals written by a father for his son.

You know, five years from now, people here will be talking earnestly about Sesame Street and Barney the Dinosaur. And I'm actually thinking it will happen. During Stardust's worst moments (Sorry Dusty), I kept thinking that at least he's not going back to things like Thomas the Tank Engine. That was literally my go-to example.
