I don’t see anything funny about it. Yesterday was horrible.
I think we can all agree that the destruction of a beautiful landmark and pieces of history within are horrible. People joke about horrible things all the time.

As a historian (and I think @Perun will attest) it is a sad tragedy that such artifacts have been damaged or lost. But the important thing is that no lives were lost. The things can be replaced. Human life is far more precious than that.

Similarly, it's not like this is the first time Notre Dame will have been rebuilt.

Also, the only jokes I've seen on here have been from British users. We're known for laughing in the face of tragedy and getting on with it.

(Apologies if I missed anyone else's posts or got your nationality completely wrong).

I have no clue what it will take to rebuild Notre Dame, but looks like there are at least 600M Euros pledged for it already. One would think that would at least come close to covering it.

Yes it was. And the place is special for me, many great memories from Paris on numerous occasions are related to it. But Niall's post was still funny. Wouldn't be if there were casualties but fortunately that's not the case.

Not half as cheap as the “respectable” members of MaidenFans joking about Notre Dame.
Boo hoo. Life sucks sometimes, might as well make jokes about the dark stuff too. You can’t even make a good 9/11 or school shooting joke anymore without someone getting butt hurt...
