I've enjoyed this discography listen a lot, and there's literally no better way than to finish up with The Book of Souls.
"If Eternity Should Fail" is a perfect opener which sets the mood for the rest of the songs to follow. "Speed of Light" is a great rocker, "The Great Unknown" is a nice moody piece, "The Red and the Black" is a gallant, fun, awesome epic, "When The River Runs Deep" is a nice shorter song, and "The Book of Souls" is a behemoth. Then Disc 2 kicks off with an awesome aviation piece called "Death or Glory", moves into "Shadows of the Valley", which is nice, but the least memorable track here, then heads into the emotional "Tears of a Clown", and switches gears a bit for "The Man of Sorrows".
But all this is just one big appetizer for the real meal.
Because after TMOS comes "Empire of the Clouds".
And "Empire"...
"Empire" is something else entirely.
I love this band.
