"Expensive" compared to - what exactly??
(Anyway I said slightly - I'm fine now ...)
Oh, I guess Trooper is cheaper in pommyland - Down here it's bloody $14 a bottle, if you can find it

Ah, suddenly everything becomes clear! Not sure of the exchange rate but $14 a bottle does indeed sound expensive. Around here you can get it for £1.66 a bottle in Asda but you can usually find some multibuy offer - I got mine as part of a 4 for £6 deal - so basically it's no more expensive than any of the others. I suppose the price difference is down to the travelling, and the care needed for it to be still drinkable when it arrives.Oh, I guess Trooper is cheaper in pommyland - Down here it's bloody $14 a bottle, if you can find it

That's what you get for being in the middle of fucking nowhere!$14AUD works out to about 8 quid. The situation is made much worse by it not being stocked by any major (or indeed minor) chains, so those places that do have it aren't benefited by economies of scale. There are one or two ales that are available at bigger retailers at roughly $20 for a six-pack (just over 11GBP - not brilliant, but no worse than any other decent beer. Almost everything is expensive in 'Straya).
I could change mine to an EA-6B Prowler, nice crossover of military hardware and Maiden song title.
