What's up with Moldova?

Albania, Turkey and Bosnia unsurprisingly have the lowest numbers, but Moldova is an outlier there.

Yes.

From the story of the band called Aria, I gathered that Soviets weren't against rock music per se, but weren't willing to support it in a slightest. I don't think you could land a record deal or use a venue in a Soviet system if you weren't tight with the party. No imports, crap domestic instruments etc. Not a good climate for artists, limited contact with the rest of the world, unable to emigrate, severely limited access to tools, and literally no methods of exposure to the general public.
