Shoulder/neck massage?

Barely makes a difference, tried it.

That sucks .. I have some similar issues .. lower back though. Assuming you have already tried it .. but ice (frozen water, not the drug) and Aleve (Naproxin) seems to help me the most (outside of stronger pain killers)

I had lower back issues throughout my adolescence and they're still ongoing. But neck/shoulder problem is such that I actually miss the days where I'd cry myself to sleep due to pain my lower back caused. (That happened once or twice, yes)

Really sorry .. did they give you something for the pain at least?

Nah. Went to physical therapy twice, but it's really hard to keep it up with how busy things are. Doing better in that regard nowadays though, learned to swim this summer and I go to the pool quite often, which does seem to help.

@CriedWhenBrucieLeft
I don't care about the poll results and didn't read them.

Just played Shadows of the Valley on my guitar with my eyes closed the whole time. I probably got 90% of it right. Such an easy song..
Nice! I saw a band my friend was in a few years ago and the guitar player for the band that played after them did these really amazing solos with his eyes closed. After they were done, I told him I was amazed that he could do that and he said it was the only way he could play those solos and wouldn't be able to do them with his eyes open. It's insane how someone would know how to do that without seeing.

Sometimes looking at all the strings messes me up so If I close my eyes all I have to focus on is the fingerings. But playing all of SOTV without looking is really a testament to how easy that song is to play. :D

I probably have one or two pinched nerves in my neck, and maybe some other issues too, and I've been dealing with non-stop sharp neck/shoulder pain since about January. But I can't do anything about it, because I went to the doc in January and they assigned me an MRI. The problem is, with how things work here, you don't get to just get your MRI straight away, unless you have a lot of money to pay. You have to wait. A long time.

I still have a month to go for that MRI that I assigned for. That's 8 months after my initial exam. Trying to handle the pain and not being able to do anything about it is driving me nuts. Anti-inflammatory creams and exercising aren't helping.
I'm sorry for all you're going through with that pain. I hope and pray that the MRI shows something and it can be resolved.
