I went by the Canadian embassy today. Half-mast, but no extra security.
As I came through Ottawa on my route to work we crossed the Rideau Canal. The War Memorial, and the East Block of Parliament past it, were clearly visible. On the south facing side of the memorial is a bank of flags - the provinces and territories of Canada, as well as the Union Jack and the Maple Leaf. All at half-mast. The bus went silent and everyone just watched as we slowly crept over the Mackenzie King Bridge, until those flags were out of sight.

Then we went to work. Because that's what you do.

Get well soon, Canada.

Winter is coming. It's approximately -2 C today. You can always dress warm outside but it sucks once it starts getting chilly inside.

The Penns played O'Canada before a game with Philly ... nice gesture

Not that I'm watching the count or anything, but 75,000 posts isn't all that far away. I'm sure we hit 60,000 about this time last year.

After a stressful day at work, where my post as leader of the company sports club has put me under crossfire between people with conflicting interests just as some project deadlines are approaching, one thing is just great.

Getting out of the office, across the rain-soaked parking lot, get in my car, and drive home while belting out the lyrics to The Evil That Men Do from the top of my lungs :D

I thought that was standard in NHL games involving Canadian teams, even if the Canadian team is the visitor. It's been a while since I've been to a Kings game against a Canadian team, so I'm not certain.

I was of the understanding that the NHL is actually the national hockey league of Canada, and all American teams are basically foreign to it. So it would be obvious that, as a Canadian organisation, the NHL would recognise the national tragedy.

not really, similar to how MLS is the top-tier footy league of Canada & the US, the NHL is an international body. It is headquartered in New York City, the commissioner is American, the players are paid in USD. I believe it is a registered entity in both nations, but it isn't a Canadian-run or Canadian based organization.
