Agree with a lot of what was said ... I love my kids and do not think they are a burden at all. I enjoy hanging out with them and still will make a point to see them in college (if they want me to or not :) ) but I am looking forward to going to places and seeing things that I could not before and being able to do it at an age when I can enjoy it instead of waiting until 65

Plus one on that :)

I used to wish I hadn't had kids so early (started at 20), but now, I'll be 45 and able to do so many things-- and the other advantage is that, at 20, I couldn't do that much. Had more energy, but didn't have income/job/security at all. Now, at my current age and beyond, I have a career, a home, and will get jobs with vacation time, etc (well... and my current job will fly me to France fall or spring :))

So, yeah, it all works out!

So my buddy and I just started a page on Facebook where we review albums and then bicker. Currently doing the entire Metallica discography. At his request, I have just completed my first ever full listen of Reign in Blood...

:puke:
Every once and a while I need to listen to Metallica's first 3 albums to remind me of what they used to be like and then I appreciate the first 3 even more. Reign in Blood is just great all around from beginning with Angel of death to the end with Reign in blood. Plan on reviewing any dream theater or death albums?

I honestly love most Metallica, with the exception of St. Anger and Kill 'Em All. I had never listened to Reign in Blood before because I knew I wouldn't like it, and I was very correct. Just don't get that style of music. I like a little more melody and quality lyrics in my metal, even if it is thrash. I'd love to review Dream Theater, but the other guy is not a prog fan. Might just do it for the hell of it, though! As for Death, I can't imagine finding them any more enjoyable than I find Slayer...so I guess I'll have to give 'em a listen!

Death is a lot more melodic than Slayer, to me. They're definitely worth trying I think.

Hm, I wouldn't want to say better. Both are probably unmatched in the style of their music. When it comes down to it, I probably still prefer the music Slayer makes, but it's a close call.

I don't get it, why does everything have to be melodic? Death's good, but Slayer's much better. Also, I don't think Knick would like Death, they have scary vocals :P

I'm not a big fan of "scary" vocals unless they feel justified by the music. Scary growls fit in Opeth. I love Opeth because the songwriting is good. Harsh vocals just happen to fit their sound and they are performed well, and with varying degrees of dynamics and shifts into clean vocals. Although harshness fits Slayer, the songwriting doesn't back it up. Slayer just sounds like yelling and mindless thrash riffs to me. And there's way too many lyrics per line, sounds like Tom can barely get out the words he's saying. I dunno. Don't get the appeal.

I have not, but I should. Judging from what I normally perform, I'd say I have a comfortable 2.5/3 octaves, possibly 4 if I'm doing falsetto or tricks.

EDIT: But that's being liberal with my estimation. :)
