Am I the only one who constantly looks for different versions (slower, faster, different tuning, instrumental etc.) of songs? Some of them are fantastic. Maiden slowed down sounds like a perfect doom metal band, for example.

I saw something a bit disturbing on my way to work this morning... Someone must have hit a groundhog/gopher (not sure which it was) and it was still alive, lying in the middle of the road, twitching and obviously on it's way out...I hope. I mean, animals get hit every day, I know this. I've even hit 1 or 2 in my life so far but to actually see the animal suffering like that is not a good feeling... Doesn't help when you have a small animal as a pet either... Can't help but think about them suffering like that... :S

Never a good feeling. Was there a possibility to get out of the car and end its suffering in some way? I know it sounds brutal, but often the best thing to do in such a situation is to hit the animal in the head with whatever tool you might have at hand.

It was on a major road way so noway to be able to do that. I don't know if I could do that... It's not there now so someone did it.

Constantly? No. You're right though, there's some great versions out there. I believe I once posted a version of "Jolene" here before

I don't look for them constantly, but I can really see your point. Plus, it is a nice test of whether a composition is worthwhile. Good songs have qualities that transcend genre and instrumentation.

I don't remember much how I got the sentence "No facts govern it". I do believe in the power of science, but I also feel that life has its absurd sides, both positive and negative. It might depend on how we define absurd in this context, if it means: unexplainable, then I might have answered some questions in a wrong way. I do think that mind and feelings play a dominant role in someone's life, for the better or the worse.
