Did he go to kindergarten, Foro? Or is it a brand new experience for him?
He went since his 3rd, 2 days in the week, and since a few months he can get used in that class he will land in when he turns 4 (which happens within 2 weeks).

It's school from 4/5 here - this varies according to when child's actual birthday falls during the year. The first year is usually called Reception, and just eases kids from play to school work. Nursery is optional and pre-schools, once known as Playgroups, are volunteer-run, although they do have to conform to certain national education standards

Mine's a veteran already. Started going to kindergarten at the age of 2, five days a week, full-day since day one.

That's not a bad thing, it gives them time to mature a bit before starting serious school work.s
It's good for social development but it's also practical. Me and my wife both work. Not full-time but my parents can't be there for him all the time (once in the week he can be with his grandparents :) ).

She certainly is! I am home one day in the week (not counting weekends ;-), and my wife is home a few days per week as well.

The main objection here to starting later would be the childcare problem. More and more couples are both having to take jobs to support the family, and childcare costs a bomb

Things are pretty well organised here in that aspect, luckily. Mothers can take their maternity leave for whole two years after the child was born. We get 90% of our salary in the first year and the minimum wages in the second year. Nursery/kindergarten is fairly cheap.
