In moments like this, I feel like I'm stepping back and looking at mankind from the outside, and all of the sudden, virtually nothing makes sense to me anymore.

I kinda like the Chromebook concept by Google. Not that I will ever buy, but I like that (modern) idea. Say, a very simple PC, with web-based OS and 1 TB free cloud service.

At some point I'll jump to Linux when OS X will be completely fucked up, but for the moment I have no reason to do that. Not even to install Ubuntu as a dual boot OS. OS X 8 is far superior and convenient.

I remember Larry Ellison praising cloud quite a decade (!!) back by providing this very nice example: The net of the water of a city, is quite a complicated thing, but so simple for the end user (just opens a valve). So he wanted to transfer all the complexity on the cloud and give to us very simple devices.

I understand that this is against our freedom in a way, but it's undeniable that the world goes this direction with those mobile OS's.. And Chromebook is a PC which follows that exactly concept.

Ha! I write stories about UK housing, construction and planning applications. Can I interview you? :D

Oh God, I'm a mine of information about this stuff. I write stories on it quite a lot. I know a few councillors who can easily fire off 1,000 words on the subject, too.

My weekend should start fairly soon, and with a curry - yay - although I've got to finish a lot of work and leave a handover checklist for staff next week, so I could be leaving late.
Off to Manchester tomorrow for beer and hopefully some music too, not sure what yet.

Oh my I just had the most dense & intense briefing in months. This was regarding something I discovered, some weeks (??) back. I lost the counting.

The situation is like this. Now I'm the bad guy, because they need to spend a few dozen of thousands. Plus time delay.
If haven't seen /insist, everything would be alright for some months, and then one day I would be the ridiculously super bad guy when they would start to pay penalties of millions. And who knows if there would be court cases as well.

It's a loose loose situation, so I choose to be the bad guy. Simply bad.

So someone have screwed up, and it was a choice between taking a small blow now or a bigger one later. In those situations it is important that there is someone who dares to speak up, and it seems you took that role this time :)

I think I may be growing a slight addiction to Coca Cola zero/light. I'm fighting my impulse to go out and buy some.

It's just recently, like the past 2 months. Haven't felt that way before really, and I hardly drank any soft drinks during the entire summer.

I'm in the same situation. I need to kick that habit again. I didn't drink any soda pop for like a year then I started again a few months back for no good reason at all...

It's a shit habit indeed. But it's so fucking good. Yuuuuummm.

I rarely crave anything like chocolate, chips, candy or ice cream. Just that fucking soda. Wonder if it's the aspartame or the caffeine?

The worst part is that when you get too much of it you forget to drink the good stuff like water. so it becomes a substitute for that - and that's bad!

I don't know what it is exactly, do you drink coffee too?

One thing that helped me kick it in the first place was not replacing the habit of sitting down in the evening and enjoying something to drink but swap the remedy with something else. I started drinking unsweetened tea in the evening instead of cola and I fell in love with tracking down all kinds of good and different no caffeinated/sugary teas.

Same thing, but with Nestea. There was a period of time where I drank only Nestea for days, not even water. I still drink it a lot
