I have an hp pavillion g6 and yesterday it was fine but I go to start it up tonight and it shows the windows starting screen then when it goes to where my login screen would be, it's just a black screen with my arrow cursor showing and I can't do anything but move my cursor around.
Oh, yeah, I've seen that sometimes. When I've seen that, I just hold in the power button until it shuts down and restart it.

That doesn't work either. Same black screen shows up. Tried system restore too.

I don't think it's because it's a laptop MC. Sounds like a virus or harddrive failure.

Right now I'm backing up my files and restoring it back to factory settings. An IT friend of mine said that would work.

How can you back up your files if you can't get onto Windows?

The files are stored in the hard drive so it gets the files from there so when I reset the whole system, I'll have all my stuff.
