I drank one, it didn't taste good. But it knocked me out in a couple hours

I don't understand this. Those types of music aren't any harder to understand than metal, it's just a different style. Blues is incredibly easy to understand, as is jazz in its most basic form. I could see the point about classical, since it tends to be used as a blanket term rather than a genre itself. But then again, same thing happens to Rock.

It happens to be the forms of those genres I enjoy listening to. Not referring to all of them.

How ? I was referring to the complexity (not in a musical theorical sense, but in the sense of "getting it") of the stuff I enjoy listening to and that they were much more tough to understand than metal (again, metal that I listen to). It has to do with sophistication.

Well maybe it was tough for you to understand, but that might be different for someone else. Also, complexity and sophistication are not the same thing.

Oh they're. There are two sides of sophistication : one is cultural sophistication, other is intellectual sophistication. Victor Raskin (linguistic professor)'s words about this matter : "There's two types of sophistication: limited access, or allusive knowledge, and complex processing." So sophistication does have much to do with complexity, you're only thinking of the cultural sophistication, one I'm talking about is the other one.

You don't see many people who react to metal as "What the hell are they doing" "This is nonsensical" or whatever. They might not like it, but most of the time they see the point of it. (most of the time anger, stress, discomfort, rebellion etc.) But you can see many people reacting to progressive rock in this way, labelling long atmospheric middle sections nonsensical. Or in progressive jazz, labelling complex movements nonsensical and they might not seem to get it.

I thought I wouldn't have to solve an equation ever again. But here I am, five years later and I have to calculate whether the results for my thesis are stasticially significant. Shoot me.
I just hope I can talk a certain friend into helping me out with it. Going to take some nagging though.

Stats is stupid. I have to do a Stats module as part of my Masters degree. PCA, Time Series, Cluster Analysis etc. I hate it. My first degree was in Maths but it doesn't help with Stats at all. A few years ago I did half a module in Stats and I sucked at it.

I've tried to persuade every single one of my friends to come with me to Blaze's gig and no one wants to. Damn, I'll go alone if I have to. <_<
