Well fuck, in the middle of last period today I started to feel really cold with a headache, sore throat, and neck pains. It hasn't gotten any better since, and on pizza night too :( At least I won't be going to school tomorrow.

In other news, Sabaton is in town this February, are they good live? Is it something I'd like? I'll be seeing Doro Pesch the next day at the same venue. :edmetal:

That's it. I'm buying some uggs.
Annoying as the spam may be, I have a pair of Ugg house slippers and they are crazy comfortable.

Mosh, if you have the chills/fever and a sore throat, that could be strep throat. Get that checked. If it's strep, the good news is that it is easily cured with antibiotics. Bad news is it's potentially fatal if untreated.

With such symptoms, I wouldn't immediately think of antibiotics. Naturally a doctor should know best but:

"The first rule of antibiotics is try not to use them, and the second rule is try not to use too many of them."

True that. If it is the flu, antibiotics will do no good, but one's own immune system will normally clean up in due time. Is it a problem in Holland, Foro, that doctors sometimes prescribe antibiotics for an infection despite knowing that it will probably fix itself in a week without medication - or even knowing that antibiotics will not help - just because the patient insists?

I'm happy that we have had a strict policy on antibiotics use here, resistant bacteria is a smaller problem in Norway than most places - but it is becoming a bigger problem here as well. And the massive use of antibiotics in the meat industry surely does not help.

Some people don't take care of their teeth properly and they still have no problem about them while I take %100 care of them, brushing three times a day, flossing, everything and I have problems with them all the time. 12 fillings, including 3 root canal operations and two teeth which have had root canal operations on them hurts right now. Gotta hate it.

Well, I am not sure how doctors deal with it but in Holland we certainly grab less fast to antibiotics than in Poland (and probably the USA as well). Really, sometimes I think healthcare is a bit over the top out there. Lots of use of medicines. The more use of crap, the less one's own resistance becomes, the more and the easier one catches following diseases.

In my opinion, a good doctor is one who is not just able to see the difference between disease which requires antibiotics and disease which does not, but who is also able to communicate this difference to the patient in such a way that the patient doesn't just go to another doctor to get a prescription for antibiotics.
