Ug. That is a pain. OK... It isn't 'really' hard to replace those. You can look on line and find that for around 50-80 bucks and then remove a bunch of stuff to fix it. I'm doing that with my son's old one...

Well... I don't really have that kind of money. It still displays, but there's a field of odd colours in the upper left. I actually need to check if it's the display or the graphics board.

Except if it's an iMac, but I don't think it's Perun's case :D

And here you have a prime reason for why I won't buy such a thing.

Yeah, it's not a super cheap solution... I know exactly what you mean.

If you restart the PC and start tapping F8, you can try to start it in 'safe mode', which should reduce the graphics to the minumum-- if it looks good there, it could be a driver or something like that....

They might know the purpose of a hundred different tools and how to use a million gadgets but have no clue that cold is not a terminal disease.:p

My number one rule when I get ill is, I want to be left alone. I do enjoy being cared for occasionally, but when I got a simple cold to cure, I just want to be on my own. I can't use people around me then.

Really? No one to make tea for you and feel sorry for you?

Me too. I hide like a wounded animal :D only with a huge store of tissue paper, soup powder (just add hot water) and Fisherman's Friend lozenges.

Yeap, I can't blame you, especially with the 2012 models, they are highly non-upgratable..

Being an Apple fan the last 2-3 years, I still find very convenient its eco-system; integration between devices, icloud, super easy to use, blah blah.. But I start to worry about the direction Apple is taking.. I think it's time to open, not in the way Google does, but hell they should consider at some point that people like to use also other platforms.. They can have an Android phone & iPad, a Mac and a Nexus and they want those devices communicate seamlessly between them.

For instance, I use my Mac as a wifi base station and works perfectly with my iPhone & iPad.. But yesterday when a friend tried to connect her Blackberry it was just not possible.

Purchasing cost for MacBooks is getting ridiculously high with this Retina thing and they are not even upgradable.. Pro users feel betrayed after decades of loyalty.. The Mac Pro has been virtually the same for more than 2 years now and they didn't even drop the price. Feels arrogant.

Another strange direction Apple is taking, is the graduate suppression of the file system.. I admit that I mostly like that one, but I'm not sure the Market will follow, as it's against freedom and choice somehow. From the other hand is very convenient for cloud computing.. Let's wait and see.. In case of failure, it would be an epic one.

I've been living on my own for the last few years, so, not really. And I don't think a cold is worth picking up the phone and whine to other people for.

So do I. Just take a look at my family. I always feel appalled by it, so I just decided not to be that way.
