And here you have a prime reason for why I won't buy such a thing.
Yeap, I can't blame you, especially with the 2012 models, they are highly non-upgratable..
Being an Apple fan the last 2-3 years, I still find
very convenient its eco-system; integration between devices, icloud, super easy to use, blah blah.. But I start to worry about the direction Apple is taking.. I think it's time to open, not in the way Google does, but hell they should consider at some point that people like to use also other platforms.. They can have an Android phone & iPad, a Mac and a Nexus and they want those devices communicate seamlessly between them.
For instance, I use my Mac as a wifi base station and works perfectly with my iPhone & iPad.. But yesterday when a friend tried to connect her Blackberry it was just not possible.
Purchasing cost for MacBooks is getting ridiculously high with this Retina thing and they are not even upgradable.. Pro users feel betrayed after decades of loyalty.. The Mac Pro has been virtually the same for more than 2 years now and they didn't even drop the price. Feels arrogant.
Another strange direction Apple is taking, is the graduate suppression of the file system.. I admit that I mostly like that one, but I'm not sure the Market will follow, as it's against freedom and choice somehow. From the other hand is very convenient for cloud computing.. Let's wait and see.. In case of failure, it would be an epic one.
