That is the greattest compliment I have ever been given. I am honored. Thank you.

I recently came to consider that Hell may not be such a bad place.

After all, it is from here to eternity.

A certain teenage idol from Canada is currently in Oslo. Fortunately I have no errands in the city centre today. But annoyingly enough, national newspapers - even the serious ones! - are full of Bi***r news. It's sad, really.

They write more about him than about the currently ongoing strike, ffs. A strike which is already having consequences for hundreds of thousands. They write more about him than about the July 22 trial, the Syria conflict, recent earthquakes in Italy ...

Fortunately, my favourite football team won yesterday.

Bloody hell. I've arranged tomorrow off from work in order to go to Trondheim, taking the 08:00 flight from Oslo airport. Tonight came news that quite possibly, a large number of security staff at the airport will be on a strike from 06:00 tomorrow. If that happens, the capacity in the security check will be reduced to 15% of normal, meaning I'll have to be at the airport at fucking 5:30 to be relatively certain to catch my flight.

I'm really, REALLY not looking forward to that.

That sounds just plain gross. I feel for you... I hate strikes. I guess I understand why people do them, but it still drives me nuts.

I was in the museum today having just finished a tour, passing by another group of kids on tour. The guide was just asking them: "Do you know what country Mecca is in?" First answer: "ISRAEL!" I couldn't hide a huge, unprofessional grin afterwards. :D

It all turned out OK, albeit with a lot more waiting than usual. On Friday, the negotiations carried on well into the day, so the strike hadn't started yet when I came to the airport. However, quite many passengers had done like me and shown up early, so the line was a lot longer than usual.

Strike was eventually declared on Friday afternoon, so when I went back today I spent an hour waiting to get through security - on a Sunday, before noon. But I still had nearly one hour to go before my flight, so no problem.

However, I do have a problem with the bastards who run the parking lots at Oslo Airport. I checked the prices before I chose to take my car there. 100 NOK/day seemed OK to me, and I expected to pay 300 NOK since today was the 3rd day of parking. But when I inserted my parking ticket, the display showed 450! 2 days, 8 hours and 29 minutes. That means the bastards charged 250 NOK for the last 8 hours ...

This practice actually means that if my return was instead early tomorrow morning, I would save money by paying at 05:15 instead of 05:10 ... insane.

Off to drop my daughter off for her first day at work.
She got a gig working at a kayak rental shop on the beach.
Can't think of a better summer job for a 16-year-old.

I just found out the parking company had just increased the price per day to 150 NOK ... taking effect last Friday. Without updating the price list on the airport website. Bah.
