Well, it's computer class time. Or in other words when I rush through my work and listen to music for an hour I think this my setlist for right now will be;

I've probably banned 50 ips in the last month. Usually 2 a day, sometimes only one. That's just insane. And that's just me - there's 4 other mods probably doing the same thing.

That's the problem with dynamic IPs, even if that one gets banned there's plenty more to spam from! -_-
 
There's got to be a more convenient way to combat this bullshit. Perhaps a post approval mode for user's first post. Or a semantic analysis. Spammers posts have a quite distinct format, no paragraphs, wide sentences, links in middle...
Let's think about it, there are a few programmers on-board that would code the necessary stuff (if it isn't available off-the-shelf).

I made a code adjustment to the registration files that (should - the same principle works on my phpbb forum!) throws bots off, and PM'ed the zip to Jon... but he didn't use it or even respond to say "Naaaah I'd rather not accept candy from strangers"

He's been on since, as he posted later that day in response to someone else PMing him  :P But I shall if you think it would help... I just don't like to bug people (Varies from person to person how they take it, whether they've seen the original message or not  ;))

I've been watching the new Beavis and Butthead episodes. They are GREAT! Completely in the tradition of the original. It's just like the original show never ended.
