Sorry-- it had been opened, and was half full.  So, it was 'illegal transportation of alcohol'.  I think the idea is that they don't want containers of alcohol that have been opened, cause you could be drinking out of them.

I hadn't, and they asked if I'd take a breathalizer (or whatever).  I said yeah, but they didn't have me take it.

if it had been sealed and never opened, it wouldn't have been a problem.

Normally I'd have had it in the trunk, but I had is mixed in with a whole bunch of snacks in a grocery bag-- I'd taken it out of a friends car and just tossed the whole thing in the passenger seat...

Where I live, if you have any booze - open or not - it's gotta be in the trunk or backseat where it can't be reached by the driver. Open booze for anyone in the car is even worse.

$120 for an open bottle? Here it'd be at least $465 + 4 points.

Wow.  I felt really stupid, cause had I been thinking, I could have grabbed it out of the bag and gotten it through the back seat into the trunk before hitting the road block.

He said it was the same as most regular traffic tickets, but if you get caught with that twice in 12 months I'd get suspended.  No more of that for me, it all goes in the trunk!

I totally understand your situation NP and wish you the best of luck on your exam.
Thanks... But... The whole concert is probably going to be cancelled (as I heard, only 2000 tickets were sold) :( Unbelievable :( My hope of seeing Maiden on this tour lasted for 2-3 days. Shit.

They'll cancel a concert due to small tickets sales? That makes no sense, they should just play the show, they already make plenty of money .

It's the Sonisphere festival, that also includes Slipknot, Alice Cooper, Mastodon and Apocalyptica. With only 2000 tickets sold, organizers can't pay all the expenses.

EDIT: So it's not Maiden's fault.

Maiden, Slipknot, and Alice and they only sold 2,000 tickets?

It's in Bulgaria. I guess the tickets were expensive:

price 1 - Standing place - Normal price - 78,20 EUR
price 2 - Standing place - Normal price - 47,52 EUR
price 3 - Seats - Normal price - 78,20 EUR
price 4 - Seats - Normal price - 62,85 EUR

They should've reduced the prices by 20 EUR, and transferred the show to Serbia :D

Wow. I don't think we have any such laws in Norway. On the other hand, the punishment is very severe if you are actually caught DUI.

Speaking of opened containers of drink. Once I was driving from Trondheim to Fredrikstad (about 600 km), it was a warm summer's day and I stopped at a gas station to buy something to drink. I didn't feel like having a soda, so I bough a can of non-alcoholic beer (one of these). I was drinking from it while driving on. Wonder what would have happened if a police car had stopped me (seeing me drinking beer) and then realizing it was Norway's most known non-alcoholic beer  :D

(For the record: I am no big fan of non-alcoholic beer, but I still prefer it to soda)

And this ... shocking. You have my sympathy. What a disappointment this has to be.

I live in a small town, my kids have about 50-65 kids per class, and everyone knows everyone.  Last night, the kid that plays trombone in my kid's jazz band died in a car accident.  That's just a weird thing.

Yeah... I can't imagine it being one of my kids.  There was a girl that just graduated that died too, the boy was 16.

For me, that's the kind of thing you see on the news-- not about the kid you were watching play music a few weeks back.

Happened in my town, three kids were driving back from grad, sober as a skunk, and they came over a blind crest, there was a guy driving a front-end loader drunk on the wrong side of the road. Took the top of the car right off, and all three kids died.

Yep, you are right on both accounts.

Sorry to bring the forum down!  It was just weird.

So, in other, happier news (for me), I start my Microsoft and CompTIA Network Admin classes in 10 days!  I have 12 months of access to all the classes this place has to offer-- that sounds fun to me.

Yeah!  I'll aim for getting the Net+ sometime at the end of the summer.  Microsoft has so many diff classes/certs, its difficult to discern what I need at this point.  But I'll be sorting that out over the next couple weeks.
