Friend: "My natropath said to take these pills before coffee and wait an hour."
Me: "NATUROPATH!?"
Friend: "Hahaha I haven't had my coffee, sorry I didn't spell it right."
Me: "It's not the spelling. If I told you to spell naturopath right I would have said B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T!"

Quack, quack

I've now been informed that naturopathy is real because she got a B12 shot. My response to that was "WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN!?"

Seriously, a B12 shot? SENIOR CITIZENS need like 25 mg a day. Not 1,000. Fuck off.

Now, I agree that "B12 shots" sounds like bogus, but your number there also sounded way too high, as daily requirements for most vitamins are in the range of micrograms, not milligrams. So I checked it. According to this page the daily requirement is 2.4 micrograms/day.

In other words, a one-off dose of 1,000 milligrams is 40 times the daily requirement, granted the comma is a decimal separator and you're not meaning one thousand milligrams ...

You're right. I forgot the c in mcg. My bad - chalk that up to me being a layman when it comes to such things.

Okay, so 400 times more than needed in one day. Somebody, please tell those who buy this that surplus vitamins do not make you healthier. At best they are just flushed down the toilet the next time you pee. At worst, they poison you.

Google tells me that one can actually order this "B12 shot" stuff online. Of course, it is supposed to help for so much more than what doctors actually use them to treat people for - which is vitamin B12 deficiency.

Yeah, that is what I had said. I just said mg instead of mcg; again, I'm a layperson and I appreciate the correction. Just bothers me. She spent $200 (around a thousand Swedish kronor) on this shit!

Bloody hell! $200??? That is robbery. Unless she actually suffers from vitamin B12 deficiency, there is nothing to indicate such intakes anyway - and if she actually suffers from it, I am sure the supplies she would get a prescription for, would be much cheaper.

If one should take in some Vitamin B12, the very best method is to start the day with Marmite on toast. Can't beat that.

Weed day!!! My friend said there's a bunch of smoke at the Denver University because the teachers let them smoke today.

I've never had that.

Too bad you can't get B12 from Guiness.
Funnily enough, you can get Marmite from beer. Or at least it's a by-product of making beer. The Aussies tried to make their own equivalent - Vegimite - but seriously, they failed. :D

That sounds like a failure before they got started!

In other news, we locked out internet radio this week....
