Well, I guess that's what happens when you don't even have an engineer to mix things for you. And it's New Year's Eve. I'm sure if you put the boys in that situation now, over 30 years later, they'd have a better idea what to do, but really, they were teens at the time.

@Mega, I noticed in various threads that you can be kinda critical about other people when it comes to playing and you also seem to be sure of yourself when it comes to your playing.

E.g., when I read this, and the way you speak about Dave's playing, and that you can play lots of Maiden songs, I start wondering if you ever have thought of the possibility that other people might not like your playing when you audition? You almost talk like that isn't possible.

Actually, internet is a safe place to boast. But as long as people don't show what they can, I don't know what to think of it.

So let's have it. Show us how good you are, and let me form an opinion of your abilities on the guitar. And Babo, show us your works as well!

:shred:
:)

Then I can put all your criticism in a better context.

You don't have to be a chef to know if the dish isn't good.

I figured you would say something like that at some point.
I do, in fact, know that some people may not like my playing, and I am sure that I'm ALOT less of a guitarist any one of the three amigos. What I am sure of is that I can play a solo that sounds better then any given one on TST.

I thought about recording some songs, but my best recording hardware is a cheap mic. I recorded the Ren and Stimpy outro song and a short blues solo some time ago.

Here you go. Don't be afraid to lash out: I won't get hurt.

Thanks for sharing. I can't play solos like this. I kinda like the blues solo.
I think some notes sound pretty hard though, so a more gentle snare pressing might improve things.

I am curious to hear some metal riffs. :)

Yeah, I obviously ran out of ideas at some point.

Metal riffs. I may have some old recordings lying around, I'll take a look.

This weekend I started converting tapes to mp3. A lot of old band stuff from the nineties. A lot of rubbish but once in a while I find a more likeble track.

It's nice to go back in time like this.

Both are me, and the high harmony is guitar pro.

Yeah, I like Dave's one as well. I really like his live solo alot better then the studio one, so I mixed it in.

*sigh*

I'm starting to get mildly annoyed by the metal scene. I know I'm not the most handsome person around, but the ratio of ugly to pretty people in the scene is of an alarming disadvantage. No, no, no, I'm not talking about "hot chicks" and "cool blokes", but among other things about all those people who don't take care of themselves and seem to make sure you can see every single beer they ever drank. Those people who look like old geezers while in fact they're only 35 or 40. Rock 'n' Roll lifestyle is cool, but there is so much more to it than spending your welfare money on booze. Is that really what you think of as staying true to yourself? Wasting your life away and not going anywhere?

I think there are people that live the 'rebel against society' lifestyle, far after it has made its point.  Its great fun when you are in your teens and even 20's, but at a certain point, its overkill.  Like you said, see a lot of guys that are 35 and look 50, cause they just let themselves go to shit, just to prove they 'don't follow societal norms'.  Now, I'm all for following one's own path, enjoying life, and having fun.  But not taking a shower for weeks at time, living on beer and potato chips.. yeah.  Not so good.

I Love when my dreams connect together. I dreamt of some crazy stuff in a half built mall, and at some point the manager and shift manager catch me coming out of some place and ask me where my card is, so I run like hell. Then a few minutes later I get a call from the shift manager and she remindes that I still have to come back because I work there, and then I remember I did in fact work there once.

Now that I'm awake I remember that I actually had a dream about a day of work at that mall. Crazy.
Holy shit.

I made myself an omelette with pastrami and onions, with bread and mayo, and actually made some pastrami bacon. It was fucking delicious. I'm making some everyday now.

Now to hope I cleaned the pan right so that my mom doesn't kill me when she gets home.
Pan look clean.

Going to take a nap. It's been a while, haven't taken one sicne I started this treatment. I'm sure I'll be able to go to sleep at the same hour at night, as I'm really tired now.

Playing on SHT is pretty lame. Guitars aren't tuned, and stuff like that. Dave wasn't such a good player in '70s. He did miss bends and stuff like that, even on Marquee 1980. It's probably due to live r'n'r setting and experimentation, but few years later he was as good live as in studio.

Man, I had some wacky dream.
Ok guys, it's time to get to know my (not my) roots.

Best Wishbone Ash, UFO and Thin Lizzy albums?
I have Live and Dangerous, I'm not satisfied with it, I want a studio album.

I like to think that I'm a far greater rebel to society and it's norms than most of those people ever were. Maybe part of that is how I don't conform to most people's image of a 'rebel' at first because I try to be polite and well-mannered. But I'm not letting anyone tell me what to do, and my life is already destined to take a different path than most others by my biographical background and my studies. Unless, of course, I decide to pack it in and live off welfare from now on.

Thin Lizzy: Jailbreak.
UFO: Start with their live album, Strangers in the Night. It's tough to pick their best studio album, because their run in the mid- to late seventies was phenomenal. Oh yeah, maybe start with Phenomeon. Lights Out is also a good bet, it's got one of Schenker's greatest moments (Love to Love).

Could not agree more. Two astonishing albums. Rock Bottom would get a 10 from me.

However, talking of Jailbreak - the opening line of that song was something that never registered with me as been pretty lame until some comedian spoke about it on TV a few weeks back.

"Tonight there's going to be a Jailbreak, somewhere in this town."

Hmm, I wonder were that "somewhere" could be? :innocent:
