Ouch, getting sick shortly before a deadline is a real slap in the face. I feel for you.

I can relate to that situation as well, on a shorter timescale. Back in 2003, before the Christmas exams, I got a terrible toothache which peaked two days before the biggest exam that semester - the Organic Chemistry one. A quite big book that had to be read and understood from start to finish. Try reading, understanding - and partially memorizing - 1.200 pages with your system full of painkillers ...

Listening to Haken's debut.
It's pretty good, but they go through many different styles of music and it's just the first song, not sure if that's a good thing, but what I can say is that the transitions are pretty flawless.

Cheers. I really do feel like I've been thrown back a week. Which I was, basically.

That sounds like a horrible experience, indeed.

I'm glad I never did anything exact science-related. I've had enough problems memorising Kurdish conjugations:

"Min awîco dexwênim.
Min awîco xwerdim.
Min awîco xwerdêbûwewem."

("I drink beer. I drank beer. I have drunken beer.")

In other news, fruit salads are my new favourite thing in the world. And having Thin Lizzy on as the first music since Thursday is also balm for my soul.

Not sure if Foro watched the cricket (or highlights of) but the Dutch ran us close.

Fuck, I missed it. I knew the first match was going to be a real big one, but later I forgot about it.

Watching the highlights now.
Get well, Per. I am sure that there will be some understanding even if you won't manage.

At least the "Min awîco" is a constant factor here. The third word is The X-Factor. :)

Hehehe, now why this particular verb? ;)

Kurdish? Crap, I spent enough time memorizing how to get it right in German. Let's see if I can still get it right.

Ich trinke Bier.
Ich trank Bier.
Ich habe zu viel Bier getrunken.  ;)

There will be. It's mostly a self-imposed deadline anyway, although it was more or less a promise to my lecturer.

Obviously - "min" means "I" and "awîco" means "beer" (from aw - water and co - barley). The latter is actually the same word as Persian "abejoo".

Well, apart from the opposite, mostly because of the past perfect of "xwerdinewe", which is "xwerdêbûwewe", which sounds really, well... I'm sure little H has said a bunch of things recently that sound like that. ;)

On another note, the second solo in Thin Lizzy's Cowboy Song is another one of those commonly overlooked guitar solos that should just make you kneel (a bit like the one in Aqualung).

To avoid cooking my Mac, I'm playing with Ubuntu 10.10 on a Vaio.  Pretty ok so far.
Since getting the wifi driver sorted, I love 10.10.

The media in the UK are berating England for they way they fielded - yes, it was below par but you have to hand it to the Dutch as they are improving big time.

Almost finished that Haken album.

The guy who reviewed it said they aren't original. Not sure how it can be said, with them mixing so many styles together with every single song. Never heard of someone doing that.
Not sayin it's great: it's interesting. Every single part of the album is fantastic, but it feels like the got like 10 songs of different genre's, and just mixed the crap out of them until they came out as 7 songs. Seriously, there's a song that starts off like a disney princess song (works with the mermaid theme of the album), and after a while goes into death metal growls. I was sitting there, going "what the hell's going on", but not in a good way.

It's ending in 2 minutes, then I'm listening to The Ultra-Violance (song), and then some songs from Food For Thought.

Good. That indicates that at least my basic German skills are intact. But as far as beer drinking goes, I guess "noch eins, bitte" will get much done  ;) At least it worked fine the last time I spent the afternoon in Flughafen Frankfurt, waiting for my plane to Qatar.

And it worked in Bratislava, as I mentioned somewhere earlier in this thread. Surprisingly, even some of the younger people understood German better than English. Maybe because of the proximity to the Austrian border?

Currently listening to SSoaSS, the last song off of Food For Thought.
This album is truely brilliant. Most of the songs are amazing, some are really funny, and others are surprising. Over all it was a great experiance, these guys have alot of talent and imagination.

Now to listen to a couple of covers off of Maiden Heaven and off to ACB.

Holy crap, the solos just started, totally unexcpected, they sound like the original thing.

It is really shit. The worst is that at this gym (which belongs to the campus, btw) they usually have the radio on - tuned into a channel playing "non-stop hit music". You can decide where to put an extra s in that sentence. The same 15-20 songs over and over, and the most annoying program hosts you can imagine.

Last year, it wasn't half as bad, since sometimes the radio would be in another station, playing a varied mix of music (including a lot of rock/hard rock and even a little metal). I think it depends on who is on watch in the reception ...he/she gets to control the radio/music.

A bit late in this topic, but I couldn't resist commenting.  Some songs I've recently heard at my gym:
Bruce - Darkside of Aquarius
Maiden - The Legacy
Helloween - King for a 1000 Years
Metallica - Whiplash :rocker:
...and loads of other Maiden and other metal songs.

That sounds like a badass gym.

A friend of mine occasionally goes to another gym where he has paid for a trial membership. Once they played an entire Dream Theater album, and they've even played Alexander The Great ... the thing is - the campus gym is so cheap and so close that other gyms are no option as long as I'm employed by the university. One just has to pay the annual membership fee for the university's sports association, which means 1/3 of what one would pay for annual membership at a commercial gym.

I can bear three hours of crappy music every week, as long as I can get on here and let off steam afterwards.

My brother wants to buy and iPod. He's a dumbass.

Anyway! Charlotte vs Cross-eyed Mary?
Just from listening to Starblind again, I can see that I'm not yet familiar with the album. It just gives me a feeling that I haven't felt since I first Got to know Maiden. I hope it won't go away soon.

Takes me six months to work my way through the daily song threads and Mosh is going to do it in one night.
