It's like anything, shit happens - as they say. But that is why we have more than one set of tapes. If one tape gets damaged, then we use a previous backup. It would be highly unlikely that we will loose more than one set of tapes by being gobbled up by the tape drive.

And in around 15 years of using these type of tapes, I have never seen one chewed up. I'm sure it happens, but when you pay £thousands on tape drives, you wouldn't expect it to behave like a £30 VCR.
 
I want to start sleeping five hours a night. I can't handle waking up so early and going to sleep so early, it fucks up my day.


Any tips? I don't really wanna just do it, cause then I'll be tired for a year.
 
No idea, man.  When I was in my early 20's, I used to sleep 6 hours a nite cause of kids, and work 60 hours a week.  But that burned me out pretty badly.

I think I'm getting used to it: I feel just a bit more tired then the usual day at school, from so long ago.


Had to go head to head with the bitch of a manager so that I won't work 6 days in a row, but I made it.
Sunday's off, and saturday's 150%!
 
Ah, nothing like the first job to put life into perspective.

@EW-- is it the weekend for you now?  I'm not sure how far ahead you are.  For me, its 8:30 in the am, and I have about 8 hours till the weekend.
 
Do you guys think it makes any sense to sleep 5 hours a night, and 2-3 more when I get home from work?

Nah, not yet. It's 4 PM here now, but I am going straight to a friend afterwards to watch the footy match between Norway and Cyprus, so I'll stay at work until 6 PM before starting the weekend.

Thats probably do-able== sleep a few hours at night, nap during the day.  I read something about that once, where sleeping in short bursts worked well for some people.

EW- sounds like fun!  I've got nothing tonite, but tomorrow a big outdoor bonfire type party.  I'm sitting around drinking some Oktoberfest! (then, not now)

I can go with that little sleep (5 hours) doing something that doesn't require too much mental effort (so simple jobs, but not studying), for several days even.  But it requires you to recharge your batteries afterwards and sleep extra; that little sleep isn't enough in the long run, nor healthy.  I've never tried splitting up a normal night's sleep like that, but at least you'd get a healthy amount of sleep each day.

What are your working hours by the way?
 
Bonfire party, does that mean you sit around a bonfire, carbonize your food over the flames and drinking plenty beer to cover up the taste of coal?  :D

Anyway, after one and a half hour of discussion with my professor, I feel really ready to start the weekend.

I am getting ready for Thanksribsing. That's like Thanksgiving, but I hate cooking turkey, so I'm cooking ribs instead.
