Nah, he was trying to use Vista in XP compatibility mode.
So Microsoft are still getting folk to use their new OS - and then offer a shoddy tool to allow backward compatibility?

Yeah, we have some software that HAS to run on XP. So, we load up Win7, install MS' XP mode and install the program in the virtual XP. Then jump through the admin settings.

facebook crashed because Adrian Smith decided to make an account there.

No, facebook crashed because Adrian Smith wanted it to.  Had he made an account there, it would have become the most stable software ever, graced by His awesomeness.

Yeah, there's a DX 9 mode and a DX 10/11 mode. For some reason, the DX 10/11 mode wasn't working on my install. It was a 7 64-bit issue, but the first update fixed it. I approve of companies who issue emergency patches in the first three days, though.

I can run everything on high, which is saying something because I don't meet recommended for processor.

Well, that is cool!  I know my CPU would do it, I should have splurged for a bigger video card, but meh, I can do that later.

Graphics card?  Its a Gigabyte Radeon DDR2 512MB card.  It was on sale for $40, and I spent a lot on the mobo and CPU (ran the Core i7, which, iirc, was 2.8 ghz, quad core, hyperthreaded with 'turbo boost' which kicks it up to 3.2 ghz)  I'm only running 2GB ram right now, thinking of getting 2 4GB cards for that.

Hmm....do you remember the model number for the GPU? 2gb is Civ's min.

(btw, I am having slowdown issues right now playing Civ. First time that's happened to me since I got the new rig. Issue is RAM usage spikes - time to go to 8 GB)
