Kind of sad, tbh. My brother went in not really having any opinion on FTGGOG (since it's newer Maiden and he's got limited exposure - although I should note he knows and absolutely loves both SotC and Clansman) and came out stunned at what a great song it was by his own words. It seems kind of close-minded and wasteful (tickets are pretty expensive these days, after all) to just go "nah I'm good" once they play a song you don't know and leave your spot just to buy overpriced beer.
I agree. Some guys around me just said something like "this is the toilet break song" and left.

As someone who hasn't seen Maiden, there is about 2 songs in the set that i'd prefer changed from the set. FTGGOG is 100% not one of those songs. It is a majestic masterpiece and the concept of leaving during any song at any concert is mind boggling. I've only left the show for a bathroom break once in all the concerts I've been to...

I've officially got the time off of work for my dates in August. Going to Nashville (19th), Chicago (22nd), and Indianapolis (24th). We're almost narrowed down to the three month mark, my friends.

Just to contribute to the talk of the past couple of pages, I hope there are no changes to the setlist. I'm stoked at the possibility of hearing songs such as Where Eagles Dare, Clansman, Sign of the Cross, and FTGGOG (despite the fact that it's one of my least favorite on the AMOLAD album). They better not touch any of these songs, and if they do, they better stick something just as deep cut in its place. No substituting one for Wrathchild, for example... hah

Gonna have time in Indy for beers, @Demigod_Tyek ?

Sure. Gonna be traveling that morning but I'm hoping to be in Indianapolis by the early afternoon. Only thing that would potentially get in the way would be if I happen to win FTTB (Indianapolis will be the concert where I'll be entering in for, since I have a pit ticket), hah. But if not, then I'll be completely free until the concert.

It's a tiny pit so you probably have a good chance! @Lampwick 43 and I will be in Indy as well!

The only time I would go for a toilet break at a Maiden gig would be right after they finish playing Iron Maiden so I do not miss anything they play.

Since Maiden didn't bring their big Eddie for the NA leg of the Somewhere Back In Time tour, I wonder if they'll bring the plane and Icarus statue. It doesn't matter either way of course!

What dates are you talking about specifically? Because all of the Eddie's were there when I saw them in Chicago in 2008.

EDIT: I guess you're referring to the walk-on Eddie taking the place of the mummy Eddie during the Feb-March leg? When they did the May-June dates, the big Eddie was present. So maybe it had something to do with the earlier part of the tour having a lot less locations? I would consider the appropriate NA leg of the tour being the May-June portion, not the couple of dates they did in Feb-March.

Regardless, I would assume they'll have the entire stage set with them. They're gonna be doing 35 concerts just in the US and Canada. That'd be a pretty high margin to miss out on a major stage prop.

Yep, that's right. We'll probably get the full production then.

New thread/meaningless poll idea: Wrathchild replaces which song on the LOTB 2019 tour? YOU DECIDE!
