KK's Priest

Agreed. I really, really wish he would not do this. It's kind of sad actually.

On that note, here are some songs that did not make it on the album. Perhaps some might turn up as B-sides or the next album

1. The Painkiller Kills Again
2. Living After 2am
3. Breaking the Law Some More
4. You've Got Something Else Coming
5. Metal Gods II: The Return of the Metal Gods
6. Getting Back on the Highway After a Piss Break
7. Victim of Market Changes
8. Hell Bent For Counterfeited Leather
9. Ram It Further Down
10. Exciterz

No ''Return Of The Sentinel''? That's the best solo song KK has written so far, especially the first 5:30 minutes of it.

Edit: no song from Demolition too.

Anyway, he debuted a song from the new album live - ''Reap The Whirlwind''. Cool NWOBHM fast song. The dual guitar harmony is a power metal trademark. Short solo by KK, nice chorus.

New song. Much better than the first. I like the aggression shown here.

Yeah, a really cool short rocker in a speed metal style for its 4 minutes. It could have been the album opener. The song has a ''Freewheel Burning'' vibe to it, especially the riff. Btw, KK seems to be a fan of the early 2000's heavy metal music videos.

The problem with KK's Priest songs is the fact that they are patchworks of numerous parts each one nested with each other without any real coherence. When I listen to this band, I have the impression to hear Dream Theater...

New single - ''Strike Of The Viper''

A song under 3 minutes. A bit of a filler, sounds like the parts of it are disjointed. It has a Jugulator vibe. The melodic riff, the bridge and the (again?) short solos are cool though.

All in all, the songs are starting to sound samey to me.

I really like it. A big improvement over the first album, but several of the songs sound kind of same-ish. There isn’t much variation, but that’s fine.

The new album is nice, but I think I like the debut more. It has more variety. This time I feel KK wanted to make Painkiller 2.0. He should have added more songs for the variety (a ballad, for example). Every song is fierce, starts with a scream and KK uses old riffs and his typical soloing style for the majority of the songs - and all of which resulted in the songs sounding same-ish. The drumming is also like that and Ripper pushes his vocals too much.

And now some positives - the album is the good old and pure heavy metal! The riffs and the solos are really enjoying.

Best songs and highlights:

''Reap The Whirlwind''
''One More Shot At Glory'' (mainly because of the instrumental section).
The title track is probably the best song for me. Melodies, slow parts, different great verses (with different vocals?), screaming chorus and a guitar battle that is like classic Priest. Awesome solos. Kudos for AJ too. His solos on the album are great.
The opener ''Sons Of The Sentinel'' is a cool energy beast with great verses/pre-chorus, NWOBHM melodies, instrumental section, but with a weak chorus.
''Keeper Of The Graves'' has some cool vocal parts and the song has a bit of a Demolition vibe to it.
The last 2 songs have some great melodic parts and solos, but with weak choruses and are too similar to other songs on the album.

I expected more variety from the 2nd album, but in the end I think this style works best for KK.

Which songs do you think KK will play live.
I hope he will debut some old Priest song/s. This will be a nice bonus for the fans. Songs like ''Cathedral Spires'', ''Alone'', ''Reckless'' or even ''Lochness'' would be great.

From the new album I guess: all songs but 2 or maybe all songs.
From his debut album: 4/5 songs.

If he will change the setlist often, he will play more Jugulator & Demolition songs for sure. Plus the (usual) Priest classics, ofc.

Something like this:
1.Hellfire Thunderbolt/Sons Of The Sentinel
2.One More Shot At Glory
3.The Ripper
4.Reap The Whirlwind/Strike Of The Viper
5.song from Painkiller (Metal Meltdown, Night Crawler, Between The Hammer & The Anvil, A Touch Of Evil)
6.The Sinner Rides Again/Sermons Of The Sinner
7.Burn In Hell/Hell Is Home/One On One/Feed On Me/Jugulator
8.song from the debut album (Brothers, Hail)
9.JP song (Screaming For Vengeance, Exciter, Sinner, Jawbreaker - all songs fits the band's style)
10.JP song (Blood Red Skies, Desert Plains, Steeler - something moody)
11.song from the new album (Keeper, the closing song)
12.JP song (Before The Dawn, Tyrant, Never Satisfied)
13.Breaking The Law
14.Victim Of Changes
Encore:
15.Raise Your Fists
