I had heard they were doing that over the PA nowadays, but when I saw them they actually performed it as the last song, which was really cool. They did Unholy as well instead of God Of Thunder when Gene did his blood spitting and flying to the top of the stage. Even as someone who didn't know a whole lot about the background/history of Kiss when I saw that concert, I was still surprised to see anything from Revenge, let alone two songs.

I also saw a video on youtube of them playing Elder material on one of those Kiss cruises recently. That must've been very cool.

This is an interesting album. They never toured for it (like the Elder) or played it live (Elder had a TV show where they played a few songs) ... and they pretty much pretend it does not exist ... and the subject matter is more serious than their usual albums.

I saw the making of thing that came with Kissology 3 and I've heard a few tunes but never checked the whole thing out. Gonna do that in an hour or so.

The other interesting thing with this album is that I had it about 9 months before it was released. They finished it when the reunion was taking shape and pretty much let it sit for about a year before they finally released it. By the time they did, the band was totally different. A very odd situation. Bruce Kulick wrote most of the songs (at least a co-write). I guess he plays some of it live still .. but he was the main guy promoting the album even though he was out of the band

Kulick has a pretty good website, he has posted some retrospectives of the albums he was involved with that are interesting reads

Ha, I was just reading that. His take on Revenge is interesting too.

Yeah, I with more musicians would do stuff like this. It is a nice commentary from his perspective on the albums and songs

Interesting album yes, but not a whole lot that really stuck out for me. Didn't have the same power as Revenge and not a lot of hooks. The experimentation was pretty ambitious though, definitely wasn't expecting that. CoS certainly rivals The Elder in that regard. Jungle and I Walk Alone were my favorites, easily. I dig the backwards recording stuff and it was really cool to hear Kiss giving it a go. Kulick has an OK voice too.

I still don't get how one can like Only You (and also A World Without Heroes) less than all this dull material you're not voting for.

Perhaps you just want to promote other Elder songs, but I think that in this stage that is of lesser importance than comparing quality of all songs left in a current round.

Just my 2 cents.

No tactical voting here, I'm holding off on some material because I like those songs. I already said that Revenge is my favorite album, why would it come as a surprise that I'm not voting for those songs? What's not to get? You like those songs, I do not. I'm not questioning your distaste for Revenge. :)

Alright. Only You is such a rich song with different vibes.

About my voting behaviour: I'm trying to protect some of my favourite songs. I am afraid that voting for most (if not all) other songs is the only way.

Bearfan, and perhaps mckindog will be decisive I guess.

I'm not voting off the Elder songs because I think they are better than anything else that will come up. That said, I like some of the Carnival of Souls songs.

Foro and Bearfan: Should I even bother to do Sonic Boom and Monster? If we're gonna be voting for every song on those albums, then there's no reason to include them and we should just move onto the quarterfinals.

It depends. If we say every album has the right to have some songs represented we could still do them, or just quickly select them. I have never heard those albums to be honest, but I am not very hopeful that they'll be that good.

If it is decided to leave these out, then I wonder how many songs from the current list will go to the next round. How many songs per album went though from previous albums? 2?

The Elder is doing so well for so long, that I feel more than 2 deserve to go. But I am not unbiased of course.

I have spoken, you guys may decide. :)

When you come to think of it they have not released a better album after 'The Elder', well, maybe 'Creatures Of The Night'.
