Sounds like their album Defenders of the Faith would be right up your alley. They have A LOT songs in the style you're looking for in a lot of their albums, but I reckon Defenders of the Faith has the largest quantity those songs that are of the highest quality. You'd probably also really enjoy Screaming for Vengeance (not as aggressive as Defenders, but still offering some high quality cuts in a similar fashion) possibly Painkiller (HYPER aggressive, but lacking in creativity for a lot of the songs (in my opinion) but again, some really quality cuts in the title track, One Shot at Glory and Touch of Evil, among a few others) Angel of Retribution is somewhat similar to Redeemer of Souls, but not as diverse and not as original in its song structures. Nostradamus has some fantastic songs on it (the ones Yax posted are spot on...though I'd also add Pestilence and Plague) a lot/most of the melodies and musical embellishment are more symphonically orientated rather than just guitar which you will either love or hate (I personally thought Nostradamus was a very good album)

If your going to get more into Judas Priest, I HIGHLY recommend their 70s albums, especially Sad Wings of Destiny* , Sin After Sin and Stained Class*. To my ears these three albums, (along with Defenders) represent the pinnacle of Judas Priests in terms of musical creativity, song structure and album consistency. The one thing that may put you off a little with the 70s albums is the production, which isn't especially conducive to the quality of music priest was making at the time.


*I consider these two albums to be among the finest metal albums ever made, with Sad Wings being one of the best albums of any genre I have ever heard. However, regarding Sad Wings, if is IMPERATIVE that you listen to it with the correct track listing (Starting with the track Prelude and ending with Deciever) I say this because there is a version of the album which has switched the A side and B side, so the album starts with Victim of Changes and ends with Island of Domination. This switching ruins the flow and build up that the original/ intended track listing creates, which is a big part of why I hold it in such high regard
 
Anyone else feel Angel of Retribution is a very underrated album? I personally, would put it up there with their best. Granted, I'm an odd one; I feel Jugulator and everything since are their best albums.

Deal With The Devil is one of my favourites (I think Edguy took from it on a Hellfire Club track. Just sayin). Worth Fighting For is great and different, I even thought there was a guest vocalist for a minute. And I love Loch Ness, although I think they should have toned down the Black Sabbath guitar sound. Too obvious.

But it didn't beat RoS. Love seeing them back making kickass heavy metal.
 
Angel is an awesome comeback album. Judas Rising is almost as powerful a statement as Wicker Man. Not one I reach for regularly, but always enjoyable when I do.

What do you think guys? Can you imagine Richie on Maiden? I think he's a great guitarist, but I think he wouldn't fit in Maiden...
 
Not sure if Steve would have wanted this published. For years I thought Maiden wanted to stop if any of the guys calls it quits. Not!

edit: Or maybe he was thinking about his BRITISH LION band...
 
Yeah, I reckon he was talking about British Lion.

I really don't think Steve would even consider replacing any of the guys in Maiden if anything happened.
 
I've never heard Steve refer to Maiden as 'my band'. But then I don't think I've ever heard him say that about British Lion either.
 
That's a good point. I hadn't thought about that. Maybe he was indeed talking about British Lion.

But seriously, most guitar(ist) fanatics hardly talk about Priest. Their loss.
 
Speaking of Priest's guitar, what has happened to Glenn Tipton? The guy used to shred the hell out of his guitar around 1990. Some of his stuff is miraculously be but he seems to be struggling with solos a lot nowadays. He can play rhythm but the solos tend to sound messy.
 
Something like that. He was lurking at the back a lot on Monday night, whereas Richie Faulkner was absolutely stealing the limelight in a big way, he was at the front at least as often as Halford, if not more.
 
I was waiting for the first Painkiller solo last night, I'm always amazed by that one on record. Glen managed it, but it wasn't fluid. He was the weakest link last night. But I don't think Priest could carry on without him. They're all about the twin guitars, and once KK and Glen aren't there, surely it would no longer be Priest?

Well they carried on when KK left?....That would be like if Dave or Adrian left Maiden.
