Joe Satriani

Yeah, this is good stuff. Sure, it’s Satch being Satch, but that main rhythm riff grooves so hard and there are super interesting parts throughout.

Looking forward to the record.

Well, yesterday Satch and Vai announced first tour together in Europe. And this time it seems it will be as one band and not each of them playing with their respectable bands and jam at the end.

I’ve started to dig the Shapeshifting album a lot.
I need to go back and listen to his newer albums. Other than Elephants of Mars, which hit at a perfect time for me and has a few total classic standouts, most of his newer material has felt a bit samey and background-ish.

I'm very curious to see what they'll do here. Clearly, they are gonna release an album together (based on that very cool single they did), but how can they stretch that into a whole show? Will they jam on each other's songs?

Also curious to see the musicians they pick as Satch tends to work with the same musicians for quite a long time.

I think they will pick a drummer, a bassist and a keyboard player, while they will be eachother's secondary guitarist.

Vai has quite a few songs where double guitars would work a threat, like The Crying Machine and The Animal... Satch less so, but still to some extent.

Satch doesn't really stick to the same ones lately. The only one in his most recent band that has been there for a while is the bassist Bryan Beller.

I consider Shockwave Supernova and Shapeshifting his best “recent” works but I definitely need to revisit What Happens Next, Elephants of Mars and some others.
