Oh, please. You may not like Dance of Death, but "big shit" is way too strong. Iron Maiden never made anything that is properly classified as "big shit". I think, for example, that The Apparition is a fairly bland song compared to the rest of Maiden's catalog, but I'd rather listen to it than 90%, maybe 95% of music out there. I'm willing to say, right here, right now, that anyone on this forum can name at least one good thing about every Iron Maiden song. For example: I like the solos in The Apparition, and the lyrics are an interesting concept. You absolutely can dislike Dance of Death, but to call half the album "big shit" is a major exaggeration. How about you try saying what you don't like about the album, instead of just saying that it is bad?

Dance of death for me,and nearly 10 years( yes,time flies) after i listened for first time ,is worst than in 2003 a 2,5/10 for me.

I Agree with you on Fear of the Dark album with the Songs but that Is Nowhere Near the quality of 2003 Dance of Death. I Love all the Songs on the Album, Except Wildest Dreams, and Gates of Tomorrow. The Live Version of Wildest Dreams is Much Better as Adrians Solo is Orgasmic. If the Album was as Bad as you Claimed it to Be Iron Maiden Wouldve never Have Released it. I Also Believe that Dance of Death is Better than Brave New World.

I totally disagree. Moonchild is probably in my top 20. So I'm rather disappointed by its low placement, but it sounds like it couldn't've made it further due to the way the matchups were selected. I will say I probably have some bias. I wasn't a huge fan when I first saw Iron Maiden live (I was accompanying my sister who was a huge fan), but when I saw this song, Revelations, and Rime of the Ancient Mariner, I was sold. Those songs were the reason I became a fan. And then when I saw Moonchild for the second time, it was an even more magical experience. So I suppose I'm quite fond of it. :D

I love almost every song that went (except Where Eagles Dare -- I would place that a little lower). I'm not sure which songs are left, but I'm sure I'll like that next group, too, so I won't complain much. I should make like some of you guys and actually meticulously place the songs in my own order of preference. It seems like a ton of work, though.

It's hard for me because my taste in music is solely dictated by emotion, so some songs will score incredibly high on some days and middle out on others. I noticed that I seem to rely more on my emotions than other people on this board. That's probably not a good thing, especially for objectivity, but oh well. Maybe I'll be able to pull out a definitive list someday.

1) On the contrary, in the main portion of the game, a song could keep rising as long as it kept beating higher seeds. After that it got locked into a range. Moonchild's rise was stopped by the Trooper.

Ah, okay. I didn't understand the way the seedings were. Thanks for explaining. :)

Interesting about the verses. They're my favorite part, besides the instrumental section. I always liked this song because it had both energy and atmosphere, and there aren't many Maiden songs that have both of those things. I do agree that Bruce's tone wasn't at its best. Some of his best phrasing is in Moonchild, though.
 
I'm glad Moonchild made it that far, though it's way higher in my personal rankings. So is The Longest Day.

Ok,sorry for say big shit.First the cover,its veeery wrong,i remember the rumor back in 2003 that the real cover was in the background and the bizzare figures were a joke from the band,and in the background was 4 figures in black.When i arrived to the shop it was just a nightmare com true( always i buy the album the first day since no prayer for the dying fyourinformation,not trolling)

Murders in the Rue Morgue is too high. So is Where Eagles Dare. It's a good song, but I've always thought it's a bit overrated. And the same with The Longest Day, which for me is the one of "less liked" songs from AMoLaD. I strongly disagree with it's victory over The Legacy and For the Greater Good. In general, many of these definitelny shouldn't top good songs left behind (like Silent Planet, The Thin Line, Talisman, Legacy...).

I agree that the cover is awful, but that shouldn't be an influence on how you feel about the music. It isn't for me.

Interesting how you like Wildest Dreams, I think most of the forum would disagree with you on that one. I'm not a huge fan of the chorus but I do like the overall vibe of that song. Still, I rank it second-lowest on the album ahead of New Frontier. Most, including me, would agree on Rainmaker. No More Lies, for me, is probably Maiden's worst song over 7 minutes, however, it has some good parts, I do like the verses, the chorus is just a bit excessive. Dance of Death is a fantastic song, no question (except if you're one of the people who for whatever weird reason object to "pranced"). However, Paschendale is an absolute classic. It is the Hallowed Be Thy Name of the 21st century. Hallowed is, without a question, in my top 5, probably top 3. The atmosphere is top notch, the lyrics are some of Maiden's best ever, and the middle section with the solos... So emotional. Actually, I'll extend that to "Cruelty has a human heart..." through the end of the third (Janick's, I believe) solo. Paschendale (Death On the Road live version) remains the only song ever to make me actually cry real tears.

The only way I can conceive of you having a distasteful opinion of this is if you just have a deep-seated hate for anything acoustic, but you said you like DoD (the song), so that doesn't make sense. I don't see anything wrong with it, and it has good lyrics and vocals, and a pleasant melody.

Are you kidding? I don't think even the biggest hater of any of those songs would put them at the same level as The Apparition. The Apparition is a song that, despite having good solos and pretty good lyrics, has almost nothing to be excited about musically. Aside from the solos, it is probably the most musically plain Iron Maiden song. And you're comparing it to Face In the Sand? I just don't see it. Face In the Sand is a musically great song, unique musically in the entire catalog, that I would probably place in the top 50 or 60 songs. Journeyman also in the top 60 or 70 at lowest. And the others you listed, while they are not as good as those two, wouldn't make a list of 10 worst Maiden songs by my standards (New Frontier would probably be in the 20 lowest).

Futureal is the biggest question mark in this game's entire set of results — a top 40 song that didn't win a match.
I'm OK with it in the 40-60 range personally, and it seems to be well-liked, but its status as a Survivor finalist gave it a top 32 starting seed.
These Colours Don't Run is in a similar scenario, but it had to beat number 43 Benjamin Breeg and seven other AMOLAD songs in Survivor to earn its top-32 start seed.
The highest-ranked head-to-head song Futureal had to beat was Virus at 85.

Other notables here: a pair of iconic songs in the Fear of the Dark and The Trooper.
Wonder if the band would be surprised by their ranking?
 
Futureal, Fear of the Dark, and The Trooper are a bit high for my tastes. Good to see Killers and These Colours Don't Run appreciated. I'm pleasantly surprised to see The Clairvoyant in the top 40. Remember Tomorrow, Still Life, and especially When the Wild Wind Blows should be a couple spots higher at the very least .

How many songs from Somewhere in Time have come up? I feel like I haven't seen one in ages.
