Mother Russia DIE!

Mother Russia does have a really good atmosphere, but the mid-section is so hollow and empty. I actually really like the title-track, so I think it deserves to meet Fear of the Dark. Anyone agree?

Mother Russia is actually a bit SSOASS-ish (the song). That midpiece has the same kind of rhythm structure as in SSOASS. Everything but hollow.

That part does not sound anything like SSoaSS in my ears. The solos just seems to go along without any direction, while the solos on SSoaSS was intense and epic. And I even said I liked the atmosphere in the song, but that section alone sounds hollow and empty.

I talked about the rhythm. A very energetic part. Still this part is imho the least important one. The main melodies in the other parts are very strong. Those keyboards rule. But what's the use. We're talking about a dead horse hardly anyone cares for. Fare well, No Prayer, until we meet again!

This is the first thread I've seen that people are actually talking NICELY about NP. :O

I don't much understand why Holy Smoke has so many votes. I love that song.(: But oh well. My vote goes to Mother Russia and Run Silent Run Deep.

[Edit] Whoever keeps voting for Aces High. . . I'm gonna shank you.

[Double Edit] Nothing on No Prayer beats Phantom of the Opera, COTD or Revelations. Just sayin' since those are some of my favourites. :D

These are imo the worst tracks from FOTD but I find The Apparition better than Chains of Misery.

Yes. Turd of Misery sounds like it's too slow or something. A dull rocker with an ever duller instrumental piece and a shitty chorus. The vocals are Bruce's worst ever recorded. The Apparition's midpiece is quite entertaining and the couplets aren't that bad either.

Fear (of the apparition) is the key to misery.

There are a couple of songs on this album that can challenge the 10 survivors from the 80s. In my opinion, Fear of the Dark is an album with about 50 % good (or even great) songs and 50 % that belong to Maiden's worst efforts. The three I just voted for are all candidates for my least favourite Maiden song list.
