This is a Survivor game. Vote for the song(s) that should be eliminated in this round. You get three votes.

As we progress the best songs are left standing. Each round is 2 days long. The top ten songs from this series will proceed to the next series, where they compete against the songs from the next album.

Eventually we'll have an overall top 10, and then we'll eliminate those songs one by one until only The Best Iron Maiden Song survives.

All not that melodic, and relatively simple, repetitive and overplayed songs from that era.

Ah crap, I think I voted wrong. I think I voted for Sanctuary instead of Strange World. Now I'm gonna hate it if Sanctuary dies, because I like that one a lot. Especially live.

Another Life -> too repetitive, good slowed down and with more punch (2005 live versions)
Drifter -> nice intro, good live, too average.
Iron Maiden -> bad lyrics, dull music. but it's an anthem and we all know that eddie is going to pop out when it's played live ;)

Here, i don't hate these three songs, i can listen to them and they're pretty enjoyable, but they lose to rest of selection.

Huh, I think I misunderstood it. I thought more than one song could have been eliminated in one round, and if some songs had the same amount of votes, only those would come back in a tiebreaker. Now I see all songs (apart from Drifter) again, including the ones who had no votes. What's the point of that?

The winner gets eliminated. Multiple songs can only get eliminated if they tie for the win. But if eliminating all tied songs would leave less than 10 songs, only then do we use a tiebreaker.

I decided to change my explanation, trying to get myself clear.

I thought, if we need only 10 survivors to compete with NOTB (I thought that was the goal), then it can be done faster and more effective than the way it's being done now.

e.g. take the current standings:

Phantom Of The Opera  0 (0%)

Sanctuary  1 (6.7%)

If there would be more songs with 0 votes, then there could be a tiebreaker, to see which one(s) have to go.

If there would be less songs with 0 votes, then there could be a tiebreaker, to see which song(s) of the ones with 1 vote can survive.

What does the current system? Only one or a few songs can be eliminated per round.

Anyway, I am still content the way it is, I only opted for a more effective system. Whatever happens, it will be interesting to see how long some Di'Anno songs will survive this poll.

I'm happy with SMX version of doing it.  It prolongs the pain and agony songs like Strange World feel knowing their time is short.  Wha-hah-hah!

That's the idea. One song eliminated per round. Just because I accounted for ties in the rules doesn't mean ties are expected or even desired.

Consider what it might mean to use your system, Foro...
If one person who didn't like Phantom cast a vote against that song, it would get eliminated - when we know that song ought to survive for a long time.

Having fewer songs eliminated per round avoids obvious mistakes like that. And if speed is your concern, consider this: we'll move through each album in about 3 weeks. This Iron Maiden Survivor will probably take about 10 months to complete. It's not designed to move super-fast, but it does have an (approximate) end date, unlike the album elimination thread.

Why 3 votes per person? Only to simulate more voters, which makes Survivors work better. If this forum had more active members, you'd only be getting one vote.

And while we're discussing rules and such, time to announce:
There will be more Survivor games, but I'm going to stagger the start times.
When Iron Maiden Survivor enters Series 2, we'll start the Bruce Dickinson Survivor. When that enters Series 2, Metallica Survivor begins... and so on.
