This was an incredibly interesting survivor and a lot of fun overall, up until you guys broke down across the last few pages. But to bring back some positivity, the results here are super cool. Yeah, it's not your typical Maiden Top 10 here, but I like that the changing tides of the past few years have broken ground for new songs becoming more popular again. Clearly the Future Past Tour got a lot of people to revisit SiT and we got three of its songs in the top 10, all three well worthy of the distinction too. It's gonna be interesting to see what happens in a couple years when we do the inevitable next one.
And next time maybe we can finally dethrone Hallowed. It's been a hard battle, mariners, but we'll beat it yet!

Satisfied, though I still hold that Alexander's renaissance in recent years is ridiculous. It'll be very interesting to see how far Hell on Earth drops once the recency bias wears off a bit.

I can say that I am satisfied with the results. I like all the songs in the Top 10, they are great Maiden material, although I expected/wanted some other songs to be included (Dance, Fear, Empire, Aces, something from BNW). I'm most happy about Hell On Earth and Alexander The Great. Then - Caught Somewhere In Time and Book Of Souls.
Hallowed is the deserved winner. A true example of Maiden! Maiden have written some songs on its level over the years imo, but the song is still unsurpassed in most ways.
I expected Rime to be on 2nd place (or even 1st), while the position of Powerslave is a bit surprising - but great.
3 SIT songs is a great achievement. I'm so glad for Alexander, Caught Somewhere In Time is maybe a bit of a surprise (but the song is liked a lot, by me too), and Wasted Years is a classic.
Trooper and Hell On Earth in the Top 10 is something that didn't surprise me. #5 position for the latter is awesome.
Book Of Souls in the Top 10 is a nice surprise.

Why? It's not like the song is bad, weak or uninteresting. I don't think its popularity among the fans is by chance. All of Steve's 80's epics are well liked.
I don't think that will happen. Or at least not in large quantities, I'm pretty sure of that. It was clear from day one that it was going to be a big favorite and a modern classic. The Book Of Souls (the song) is also a good example.
Even Fear Of The Dark (the song)? And I disagree about FOTD album. TFF too.

Recency bias might be a thing, but personally from the last three albums, what I loved back then I love still (with only slight shifts in preference, e.g. I don't like Shadows of the Valley as much as I used to, but it was never my favourite off that record anyway) or - in case of Isle of Avalon and Starblind - I've warmed up to them over time, but the tops are still tops.
I picked When the Wild Wind Blows for my wedding 4 years after the album came out and I still don't regret it, it's one of my overall favourites. I loved AMOLAD as it came out and yes, over time it jumped up from the 2-3rd place to first one, but 17 years later (fuck, it's really been that long?) it's still my top 1 Maiden album and will probably remain so.
I feel the same about Hell on Earth.
Anyway, @Night Prowler thanks for hosting, it's been fun.
I am mostly satisfied, I think Hallowed didn't have to be No 1 again, but the other results are rather interesting, I am definitly not dissatisfied.

It is a warning also, for a couple that's a bit... different, to not lose connection to the real world just because they understand each other as no other person does.
Plus, I wanted Maiden and this was a song we agreed upon. If we got married today (and haven't converted in the meantime, i.e. had it still been a secular wedding), it would probably be Opeth and Dream Theater, because those are more "our" bands.
